Introduction: The gut microbiota (GM) is formed by millions of microorganisms present in the gastrointestinal tract, especially in the colon. This intestinal homeostasis can be triggered by the union of a good diet, and even recent studies have suggested that aerobic physical training can modify its composition. Objective: To analyze the influence of healthy eating added to the practice of physical exercise in changing the composition of the GM. Methods: The research was carried out with an exploratory, qualitative and bibliographic approach. A literature review that brings together important studies on the influence of physical exercise on GM. Results: Data collection for this literature review was carried out from March to September, using articles, in addition to trustworthy websites, with the following descriptors: gut microbiota, microbiota, intestinal flora, food, probiotics, and physical exercise. Conclusion: The training was efficient to change the GM composition in sedentary men, thus being able to minimize possible negative interferences of the sedentary pattern. Bacteria that reside in our body work with a commensalism strategy, where there are two different structures, the microorganism, and the individual's body, but both live together normally and thus work together to maintain the GM balance.

This study examines “body work” in the context of home‐based substance abuse care in Finland, which is provided to adults with intoxicant problems and needing short‐ and long‐term support in their everyday lives. This article is concerned specifically with body work, which can be defined as care work focusing directly on the bodies of others. Through a twofold analysis of 13 audio‐recorded home visits and ethnographic field notes, it examines what body work is in home‐based substance abuse care, how close body work is and how workers and clients negotiate about it. The study shows that home as a site of care has an impact on substance abuse care. The worker’s home visit settles into a tension relation between private and public even if the care is a part of weekly routine. Body work is holistic care work necessitating slight, medium, and extreme bodily intimacy in taking care of and supporting client’s well‐being. During the home visit, worker and client negotiate the body work and its content. Worker and client communicate verbally and non‐verbally by gaze and body movements. Often the workers have to balance between disciplinary, participatory, and caring approaches to support the client living in the best possible way.

The isolation situation caused by the COVID 19 pandemic necessitated a shift to pedagogical interaction from a distance for kindergarten teachers as well. At first, for many of us, „distance learning“ seemed a daunting task. Accustomed to usiAng approaches based on games, projects, hand and body work, keeping children away and communicating at a distance, it required finding alternative ways to tackle this challenge. How did we make distance learning work in kindergartens as well? The good shared experience in Bulgaria and around the world helped the educators to find an approach to the parents in order to continue the children’s education together, while remaining true to what the children love the most – to play.

Embedded in personal experiences, this collection explores ableism in academia. Through theoretical lenses including autobiography, autoethnography, embodiment, body work and emotional labour, contributors explore being 'othered' in academia and provide practical examples to develop inclusive universities and a less ableist environment.
