In the conditions of the Astrakhan region there have been studied onion accessions of various ecological and geographical origin from the world collection of the Federal Research Center N. I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources. The aim was to search and isolate sources and donors of agronomic traits for breeding work. Over three years of study (2017-2019), 117 onion samples were evaluated, of which 14 most promising accessions were identified based on the results of phenological, morphological and biometric observations and counts. The most productive samples with the yield from 52.3 to 64.1 t/ha in the conditions of the light-brown soils from Australia (Selfed), Hungary (Zillani), USA (Red Mom), Canada (Nothern) have been selected. Of these, the most adaptive to the conditions of the arid zone are Nothern, Selfed, Zillani, Red Mom (adaptability coefficient 1.19...1.46). According to the index form (1.0), the following specimens were identified: Vertus (Denmark), Southport (Canada), Zillani (Hungary), Jetset (Netherlands), Encore (USA), Kyrmyz (Abkhazia). Varieties with the complex of agronomictraits are the most valuable source material for onion breeding in the arid zone of light-brown soils of the Astrakhan region: Selfed (Australia), Zillani (Hungary), Red Mom (USA), Nothern (Canada).

The properties of crystalline materials can be described mathematically by tensors whose components are generally known as property constants. Tabulations of these constants in terms of the independent components are well known for common material properties (e.g. elasticity, piezoelectricity etc.) aptly described by tensors of lower rank (e.g. ranks 2–4). General relationships between constants of higher rank are often unknown and sometimes reported incorrectly. A computer program is developed here to calculate the property constant relationships of a property of any order, represented by a tensor of any rank and point group. Tensors up to rank 12, e.g. the tensor of sixth-order elastic constants c 6 ijklmnpqrs , can be calculated on a standard computer, while ranks higher than 12 are best handled on a supercomputer. Output is provided in either full index form or a reduced index form, e.g. the Voigt index notation common to elasticity. As higher-order tensors are often associated with nonlinear material responses, the program provides an accessible means to investigate the important constants involved in nonlinear material modeling. The routine has been used to discover several incorrect relationships reported in the literature.

Abstract Background Menstrual symptoms have been identified as a substantial burden among women of reproductive age, affecting their health status and quality of life globally. A range of menstrual symptoms have been studied as they affect the health-related quality of life (HRQoL), showing variations across specific menstrual symptoms and study settings. A major concern is demonstrated due to menstrual symptoms in women’s professional and social life, and consequently societal and economic loss for women and the society at large. Yet evidence is scarce that estimates the index form HRQoL score related to menstrual symptoms that is needed for health economic evaluations. Methods This study aims to investigate the association between menstrual symptoms and the HRQoL among working women in Japan in an index form, using a self-reporting questionnaire (n = 6048). The EQ-5D-3L (EuroQoL 5-dimension 3-level) is used that is a widely used tool to measure health outcomes for health economic evaluations globally. Multivariate regression analysis is conducted to assess the association between the HRQoL score and specific nineteen physical and mental conditions related to menstruation (e.g., pain, heavy bleeding, concentration, negative affect). Results The index form HRQoL score for menstrual symptoms is estimated as 0.682 in the study population (where a score one suggests perfect health). The association of the HRQoL score varies substantially across the menstrual symptoms. Several of the physical conditions and disorders show a substantial negative association with the HRQoL score. Also, most of the mental and psychological issues are significantly and negatively related to the HRQoL score. Conclusions This study suggests that HRQoL is substantially and negatively affected by menstruation among working women in Japan. Distinct variations of negative influences across menstrual symptoms underscore the multi-dimensional nature of menstruation and consequently the need of collective interventions to address these difficulties. The evidence of HRQoL continues to be an important area for future research on women’s health and health economic evaluations to inform effective and efficient resource allocations for relevant health policies and financing strategies.

Crinum asiaticum L. and Crinum latifolium L. are members of the family Amaryllidaceae. Karyomorphological studies of these two species had been performed by using different quantitative and qualitative parameters to know the karyotype asymmetry, which defines the advanced and primitive nature of these two species. The study revealed that Crinum asiaticum L. and Crinum latifolium L. are diploid with 2n=22 chromosomes. based on Total Chromatin Length, Arm Ratio, Gradient Index, Form Percentage, Total Form Percentage, Karyotype Asymmetry Index, Symmetry Index, and Stebbins classification, Crinum asiaticum L. is more advanced than Crinum latifolium L.
