Abstract At present, there are numerous losses caused by corrosion cracking of metal castings in engineering in China. In order to detect the possible defects of metal castings in engineering, the laser ultrasonic vision inspection technology is used to image the castings, and then the identification efficiency is low. In order to process these images efficiently and quickly, convolutional neural network image processing technology is introduced. According to the actual needs, a convolutional neural network architecture is designed to recognize images, and whether the architecture meets the requirements is verified. Experimental results show that the performance of the architecture meets the design requirements. Under the same conditions, this structure provides a solution for casting defect detection combined with artificial intelligence.

Metal casting technology reached at a very advanced point after the Second World War. When the war was over, many companies producing metal castings suffered a huge market loss and tried to create new markets and develop new products. Some companies, inspired by the rapid development of automobile production, started to produce toy model cars with the casting technique, which were generally made with sheet metal bending until then, using the moulding techniques they had advanced. In this study, the history of Lesney company, established after the Second World War, and the development of Matchbox’s product range will be discussed in the context of collecting and a collection object. Matchbox collections are the most common model car collections in the world. The status of the designed objects as collectible objects was investigated together with the history and development process of Matchbox cars production and collecting behaviour of consumer.

Experimentally investigate the intensity and specificity of the processing of different types of metal castings of the zipper in a tensile machine with complex spatial movement of the working capacity, to obtain the appropriate calculation dependencies to determine the processing time. An experimental study of the separation from the casters of three types of metal castings of the zipper (casting with two, with eight fixed details-cases and outflow with sixteen fixed details by clamps) in a tensile machine with a complex spatial movement of the working capacity by observing the change in the number of machined parts during the process. Further mathematical processing of the obtained results is carried out. The types of castings for which the maximum and minimum technological time are spent in the toughening machine with complex spatial movement of the working capacity are determined. It is established that for processing castings with fixed parts-locks it takes twice more technological time, which is spent to clean the separated parts from the remnants of the wrap and burrs. Compared with conventional rotating shredding machines, using machines with complex spatial movement of the working capacity, you can increase the productivity of this technological operation by almost ten times. The dependences between different types of metallic castings of the zipper and the intensity of separation of parts from them during processing in a caulking machine with a complex spatial movement of the working capacity with providing a waterfall mode of movement and 50% filling the capacity. Appropriate design dependencies were obtained to determine the processing time. Guidelines on the implementation of rational technological parameters in the processing of various types of metal castings of the zipper in a tensile machine with a complex spatial movement of the working capacity. These guidelines can be used at the design stage of technological processes and equipment in the relevant machine-building and light industry enterprises specializing in the manufacture of hardware.

The study discusses the attribution of several Ural cast-iron artworks. The authors of the model range of metal castings from Kasli and Kusa factories are still the least researched in Russian art history and, thus, the study appears to be very timely. The article considers connections between the model range of the Urals plants and the famous French bronze foundry of Ferdinand Barbedienne. Castings available on the antiques market and in Russian museum collections are analyzed comparatively. New names of authors of Ural metal casting models are introduced into scholarship.

The article considers a method for eliminating casting defects using Permabond ES558 metal-filled epoxy resin. This method refers to modern and progressive methods of restoring the surfaces of metal castings. The Permabond ES558 epoxy resin is a silver-gray paste with inclusions of metal fractions to increase the hardness after temperature curing. When heated, the resin spreads evenly filling the cavity of the shell. After the composition has fully cured, the restored surface can be machined by grinding.
