Abstract In this paper, concurrent scheduling of jobs and transportation in a hybrid flow shop system is studied, where multiple jobs, transporters, and stages with parallel unrelated machines are considered. In addition to the mentioned technical features, jobs are able to omit one or more stages, and may not be executable by all the machines, and similarly, transportable by all the transporters. Unlike most studies in the literature, the transport resource is finite and needs to be simultaneously scheduled with the jobs. Initially, a new mixed integer linear programming (MILP) model is proposed to minimize the makespan. Then, a novel Recursive Local Search Heuristic (RLSH) is proposed to tackle the large-sized instances, which otherwise could not be solved via MILP solver (Gurobi) in reasonable time. RLSH is also compared against Genetics Algorithm (GA) on a set of numerical examples generated from the uniform distribution. As the computational results demonstrate, it is concluded that RLSH is extremely efficacious dealing with the problem and outperforms GA in the objective value quality. Finally, using two well-known statistical tests: Wald and analysis of variance(ANOVA), we assess the performance of the suggested approaches.

Underwater sensor networks (UWSNs) are characterized by large energy consumption, limited power supply, low bit rate, and long propagation delay, as well as spatial-temporal uncertainty, which present both challenges and opportunities for media access control (MAC) protocol design. The time-division transmissions can effectively avoid collisions since different nodes transmit packets at different period of time. Nevertheless, in UWSNs with long propagation delay, in order to avoid collisions, the period of time is subject to be long enough, which results in poor channel utilization and low throughput. In view of the long and different propagation delay between a receiving node and multiple sending nodes in UWSNs, as long as there is no collision at the receiving node, multiple sending nodes can transmit packets simultaneously. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a MAC protocol of concurrent scheduling based on spatial-temporal uncertainty called CSSTU-MAC (concurrent scheduling based on spatial-temporal uncertainty MAC) for UWSNs. The CSSTU-MAC protocol utilizes the characteristics of temporal-spatial uncertainty as well as long propagation delay in UWSNs to achieve concurrent transmission and collision avoidance. Simulation results show that the CSSTU-MAC protocol outperforms the existing MAC protocol with time-division transmissions in terms of average energy consumption and network throughput.

According to rapid assessment requirement of system protection control strategy adaptability in future operation mode, combining with application status of distributed computing for power system security and stability analysis, based on design idea of asynchronism and concurrency, this paper proposes a multi-scheme concurrent computing framework suitable for coarse-grained case parallelism. By the way of multi-data section parallel, the asynchronous and concurrent scheduling management of computing task of multiple application functions under different sections is realized, which effectively improves the utilization rate of computing resources and significantly reduces the computing period of advance evaluation of system protection control strategy adaptability. The technology has been applied in provincial power grid and its effectiveness has been verified.
