This study aimed to identify the obstacles of the performance of professional learning communities (PLC)from the point of view of science teachers in Afif Governorate in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. to answer the study questions, the researchers used the descriptive analytical approach, by developing a questionnaire consisting of two main topics: performance obstacles related to the personal aspects of the teacher, and performance obstacles related to school environment. The sample consisted of 95 science teachers in primary, middle and secondary schools. The sample size was 53.98% of the research society. The results indicated a number of performance obstacles from the point of view of science teachers. Among the most important performance obstacles related to the personal aspects of the teacher is the large number of teaching and administrative responsibilities that reduce the opportunities for cooperative work among teachers. Another obstacle in this topic is that less attention in the professional development programs is given to PLC. As for the obstacles related to the school environment, the most important of which is the school’s lack of an educational environment that supports PLC. The intensity of students numbers in the classroom which reduces the chances of the teacher reflection on teaching practices. The results also showed that there are no statistically significant differences credited to the variable of the grade (primary - intermediate - secondary) (α = 0.05).While statistically significant differences occurred related to the number of years of experience, in favor of more experienced science teachers (α=0.05(.

COVID-19 and its control measures have caused obstacles to the performance of many house-leasing contracts. To give reasonable relief to contracts’ parties involved, the legal nature of COVID-19 and its control measures must be precisely defined. This paper argues that the early COVID-19 and its control measures are the force majeure, and the legal nature of COVID-19 and its control measures under the normal epidemic preventing and controlling mechanism should be analyzed in light of the specific situation. We should accurately grasp the meaning of impossibility of performance, frustration of purpose and impracticability, appropriately take the legal relief, balance the interests of both parties, and promote social and economic recovery finally.

PurposeThis paper aims to fill gaps in one’s knowledge of the impact of organizational change on two outcomes relevant to hospital service quality (performance obstacles and physician job satisfaction) and in one’s knowledge of the role of middle manager change-oriented leadership in relation to the same outcomes. Further, the authors aim to identify how physician participation in decision-making is impacted by organizational change and change-oriented leadership, as well as how it mediates the relationships between these two variables, performance obstacles and job satisfaction.Design/methodology/approachThe study adopted a cross-sectional survey design including data from Norwegian hospital physicians (N = 556). A hypothetical model was developed based on existing theory, confirmatory factor analysis was carried out in order to ensure the validity of measurement concepts, and the structural model was estimated using structural equation modelling.FindingsThe organizational changes in question were positively related to performance obstacles both directly and indirectly through participation in decision-making. Organizational change was also negatively related to job satisfaction, both directly and indirectly. Change-oriented leadership was negatively related to performance obstacles, but only indirectly through participation in decision-making, whereas it was positively related to job satisfaction both directly and indirectly.Originality/valueThe authors developed a theoretical model based on existing theory, but to their knowledge no other studies have tested these exact relationships within one model. These findings offer insights relevant to current and ongoing developments in the healthcare field and to the question of how hospitals may deal with continuous changes in ways that could contribute positively towards outcomes relevant to service quality.

PurposeManufacturing organization has adopted the concept of sustainability to improve the performance of product and process as well as to focus on environmental issues. Despite technological advancements and awareness, there exist several performance obstacles for the implementation of sustainable manufacturing in an organization. The objective of the current study is to identify the performance obstacles, propose a structural model and validate the proposed model.Design/methodology/approachTwelve performance obstacles are identified through critical literature review and discussion with field experts. Primary and secondary factor analysis, that is, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), are used for the creation of the structural model, and further, structural equation modeling is used as a validating tool. EFA deals with the categorization of all performance obstacles in four major criteria, and CFA works for proposing a model for a relationship among all obstacles.FindingsA validated structural model is provided through hypothesis acceptance for structural equation modeling. The outcome of this study can be helpful for decision-makers to incorporate sustainable practices in the manufacturing organization.Originality/valueThis study has extracted and identified performance obstacles for the implementation of sustainable manufacturing based on critical literature review and discussion with field experts. The study proposes as well as validates the structural equation model.

The chapter discusses the characteristics of effective orchestra rehearsing that involve instructing students how to feel, hear, and see concepts so that efficient and purposeful practice can successfully occur. The process of designing motivating rehearsal environments, classroom structure, and skill sets is examined. Several rehearsal strategies are analyzed and demonstrated via score samples and videos that help students to develop better intonation, rhythmic alignment, tone quality, finger coordination, and consistency. The chapter explains that the director has the responsibility of ensuring that rehearsals inspire and develop musicianship among the students. Finally, the author demonstrates how a director’s deeper-level questioning can assist students in overcoming performance obstacles without director guidance.
