AbstractMineral insulated, metal sheathed (MI) Type K and Type N thermocouples are widely used in industry for process monitoring and control. One factor that limits their accuracy is the dramatic decrease in the insulation resistance at temperatures above about 600 °C which results in temperature measurement errors due to electrical shunting. In this work the insulation resistance of a cohort of representative MI thermocouples was characterised at temperatures up to 1160 °C, with simultaneous measurements of the error in indicated temperature by in situ comparison with a reference Type R thermocouple. Intriguingly, there appears to be a systematic relationship between the insulation resistance and the error in the indicated temperature. At a given temperature, as the insulation resistance decreases, there is a corresponding increasingly negative error in the temperature measurement. Although the measurements have a relatively large uncertainty (up to about 1 °C in temperature error and up to about 10 % in insulation resistance measurement), the trend is apparent at all temperatures above 600 °C, which suggests that it is real. Furthermore, the correlation disappears at temperatures below about 600 °C, which is consistent with the well-established diminution of insulation resistance breakdown effects below that temperature. This raises the intriguing possibility of using the as-new MI thermocouple calibration as an indicator of insulation resistance breakdown: large deviations of the electromotive force (emf) in the negative direction could indicate a correspondingly low insulation resistance.

Solifenacin (Vesicare®, SOL), known to be a member of isoquinolines, is a muscarinic antagonist that has anticholinergic effect, and it has been beneficial in treating urinary incontinence and neurogenic detrusor overactivity. However, the information regarding the effects of SOL on membrane ionic currents is largely uncertain, despite its clinically wide use in patients with those disorders. In this study, the whole-cell current recordings revealed that upon membrane depolarization in pituitary GH3 cells, the exposure to SOL concentration-dependently increased the amplitude of M-type K+ current (IK(M)) with effective EC50 value of 0.34 μM. The activation time constant of IK(M) was concurrently shortened in the SOL presence, hence yielding the KD value of 0.55 μM based on minimal reaction scheme. As cells were exposed to SOL, the steady-state activation curve of IK(M) was shifted along the voltage axis to the left with no change in the gating charge of the current. Upon an isosceles-triangular ramp pulse, the hysteretic area of IK(M) was increased by adding SOL. As cells were continually exposed to SOL, further application of acetylcholine (1 μM) failed to modify SOL-stimulated IK(M); however, subsequent addition of thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH, 1 μM) was able to counteract SOL-induced increase in IK(M) amplitude. In cell-attached single-channel current recordings, bath addition of SOL led to an increase in the activity of M-type K+ (KM) channels with no change in the single channel conductance; the mean open time of the channel became lengthened. In whole-cell current-clamp recordings, the SOL application reduced the firing of action potentials (APs) in GH3 cells; however, either subsequent addition of TRH or linopirdine was able to reverse SOL-mediated decrease in AP firing. In hippocampal mHippoE-14 neurons, the IK(M) was also stimulated by adding SOL. Altogether, findings from this study disclosed for the first time the effectiveness of SOL in interacting with KM channels and hence in stimulating IK(M) in electrically excitable cells, and this noticeable action appears to be independent of its antagonistic activity on the canonical binding to muscarinic receptors expressed in GH3 or mHippoE-14 cells.

Подход основан на методе максимального правдоподобия с использованием поискового индекса по типу k - d дерева, для создания которого использовались результаты вычислений моделей звездных атмосфер Куруца. We present a probability-theoretic approach to separation of stellar properties using SDSS, 2MASS magnitudes. The approach is based on the maximum likelihood method using a search index of the type k - d tree. Using synthetic photometry of Kurucz model spectra, the search index is constructed and the approach is tested on sample of ∼ 300 stars.

AbstractIn the process of vocal learning, animals give immature vocalization, such as babbling and subsong. Here I report a characteristic vocalization given by a subspecies of large-billed crow, Corvus macrorhynchos osai, that live in Kuroshima Island, Okinawa, Japan. This vocalization (type-K) is characterized by very rapid bill movements (ca. 13 times/sec). The type-K was heard throughout the island, indicating that the population of the Kuroshima Island share this call type. In addition, a juvenile crow was observed giving immature type-K repeatedly. This observation suggests that this call type is not innate but acquired through vocal learning.

In the activities of the Pratama Insinas, Ministry of Higher Education technology research in 2018, PTKRN BATAN built a testing facility that simulates a passive cooling system on the reactor core when there is a loss of outside power. The test facility is the Passive-02 System Simulation Facility (FASSIP02).In FASSIP-02 there are several parameters that need to be measured, one of which is temperature. In the measurement of temperature using a K type Thermocouple Connected to the National Instrument 9178 and 9213 modules that use computer programming with LabVIEW software. Temperature measurements need to be characterized.Characterization of type K thermocouples was carried out using thermobaths, 30 type K thermocouples, standard thermocouples,National Instrument modules 9178 and 9213 with computer programming displays using LabVIEW software. The method used for characterization oftype K thermocouples is a fixed temperature comparison method where the results of the temperature control of thermobath is 30-90 ͦC compared with the results of measurements from the type Kthermocouple and standard thermocouple. From the difference of the copper-wrapped junction tip thermocouple without the copper-wrapped and standard thermocouple produces a small error value, so the use of copper as a thermocouple junction end wrapper can be used as a temperature measurement FASSIP-02.

Abstract The increasing demands on lateritic gravels in road construction nowadays make it necessary to quantify the available resources that can be used in road construction. The aim of this study is to estimate the tonnage and to valorize the lateritic gravels of the North flank of Mount Bangou (West, Cameroon) in road construction. Interpretation of 48 vertical electrical soundings coupled with 20 pedological wells from 05 lateritic gravel sites was carried out to determine the thickness of the gravelly horizon. The thickness of the gravelly horizon obtained from the geo-electrical soundings is the highest (8.88 to 12.45 m) compared to that obtained from the pedological wells (1.23 to 1.98 m) and thus shows the inadequacy of the pedological wells for the determination of the thickness of the lateritic gravels. Thus, the electrical resistivity method is appropriate to estimate the thickness of the gravelly horizon. The lateritic gravels studied are characterized by the electrical resistivity curves of type K, HK, Q, QH, KQ, HKH, H and KH. The medium (8 to 36 m) and thick (13 to 44 m) zones are areas of high potential lateritic gravels. The proven reserves of lateritic gravels at the Chenye, Sekakouo, Bamendjou 1, Bamendjou 2 and Bangam sites are respectively 3479 003 t, 1 389 522 t, 5 002 505 t, 839 455 t and 2 663 105 t and can build respectively 539 298 m; 226 167 m; 131574 m; 778314 m and 401068 m of road, either as a form layer or sub-base.
