Monolateral and bilateral crossbites are amongst the most frequent forms of malocclusion in the world population. The lack of early correction of this type of malocclusion leads to the partial or total ossification of the sutures which then require surgical treatment in adult patients. In recent years, devices on minipalatal screws have noticeably increased the time window in which it is possible to correct these types of alterations. In this case report, we show how it is possible to correct a third-class skeletal malocclusion associated with a posterior bilateral crossbite in a young woman using a rapid expander on miniscrews and fixed orthodontic device to finalise the process. The procedure for the insertion of the palatal screws was aided by the use of a digitally printed surgical guide, and the appliance was applied in the same sitting thanks to the use of a digital flow software and a systematic easy driver. The CBCT scans show how the orthopaedic expansion of the upper maxilla was obtained without any important alterations that damaged the permanent teeth. This case report wishes to demonstrate how easy and predictable it can be to resolve cases of this type with optimal aesthetic and functional results even when body growth has ended.

Abstract Objectives Posterior crossbite is one of the most common orthodontic problems in primary and mixed dentition that induces deleterious and permanent effects on dentition, dentoskeletal structures, and esthetics. Early correction of unilateral and bilateral posterior crossbite is necessary to prevent these problems. Early intervention with removable Schwarz appliance is one of the useful appliances to correct posterior crossbite, but it has its own disadvantages. Materials and Methods In this article, we have presented a new appliance and method of fabrication to aid the expansion of the maxilla. Results The presented “clear expansion plate” that is made by thermoplastic sheets maintains all of the positive properties of the Schwarz plate and has several additional advantages. Conclusion After being tested in clinical trials, traditional expansion plate can be replaced by clear expansion plate.

Background Coagulation mechanisms are reported to be affected in dengue illness and evidenced by prolonged activated partial thromboplastin time (APTT) and prothrombin time (PT). The main aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to determine the magnitude of coagulation abnormalities among patients with dengue fever infection. Method This systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted per the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline. The Joana Brigg’s Institute (JBI) critical appraisal checklist was used for quality appraisal. STATA version 11 software was used for meta-analysis. The magnitude of coagulation abnormalities among dengue fever patients was determined by using a random-effects model. Subgroup and sensitivity analysis were performed to investigate the possible source of heterogeneity. Egger weighted regression tests were used to check the presence of publication bias among the included articles. Result Forty-two studies with a total of 12,221 dengue fever patients were eligible for meta-analysis in this study. Of which 22, 15, and 26 studies were used to determine the magnitude of prolonged APTT, PT, and thrombocytopenia, respectively. The magnitude of prolonged APTT and PT among patients with dengue fever infection were 42.91% (95% CI: 30.95, 54.87) I2 = 99.1% and 16.48% (95% CI: 10.95, 22.01) I2 = 97.0%, respectively. Besides, the magnitude of thrombocytopenia among dengue fever patients was 70.29% (95% CI: 62.69, 77.89) I2 = 99.3%. The magnitude of prolonged APTT in children and adults was 51.21% (95% CI: 24.54, 77.89) and 44.89% (95% CI: 28.32, 61.45), respectively. Similarly, the overall magnitude of prolonged PT in children and adults were 13.40% (95% CI: 6.09, 20.71) and 18.73% (95% CI: 7.49, 29.96), respectively. Conclusion The result of this study showed that there is a high magnitude of prolonged APTT and PT in dengue fever patients. Therefore, screening and early correction of coagulation abnormalities may be helpful to reduce further complications in those patients.

Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport whose complexity is given by the combination of body technical elements with the technical elements of handling objects and the features of form and content of the musical accompaniment. The harmonious combination of balance, along with agility and motor control leads this sport branch to virtuosity and mastery, especially in the conditions of current international requirements. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to develop new training programs and highlight the existing relationship between new assessment methods and sport results. This approach is transposed especially in the competitive results, by identifying and early correction of the main variables that cause execution errors during body elements

This article proves non-ergonomic postures through virtual simulation and analysis of the work area. Blender software is used to correct non-ergonomic postures after modifying the welding area. The research was conducted finding bad postures in workers, including fatigue levels, through an ergonomic survey in combination with the use of the Likert scale. The Blender software results allowed us to find that the lack of early correction of these non-ergonomic postures can cause discomfort and pain, as well as injuries to the neck/nape, middle back, and lumbar back. Some recommendations were proposed to minimize discomfort and pain in the workers, for example, by reducing the angle of inclination for back and neck. The paper shows the utility of using software for digital anthropometry in an Industrial environment.
