The use of robotics in the industrial environment has, in general, very similar goals. Because of productivity requirements, or due to reliability, industries have been constantly equipping their floor with robots. In that sense, the chapter observed—in a fiberglass company—the chance of using a robot to execute a boring and repetitive task. The task mentioned is, actually, the manufacturing of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) molded grating. To confirm the possibility of using a robot to this job, a cost and time analysis was made about the whole molded gratings manufacturing process. Afterward, research about robotics was taken in parallel with the conception of the robot (named “roving-robot”). Calculations were made to the mechanical project of the robot. Applying computer-aided design (CAD), technical drawing and bill of materials were generated to permit the robot assembling. All of these project steps are presented in this chapter.

In an increasingly competitive industrial environment, every company strives to increase the quality and efficiency of its product development process. PT. Udaka Indonesia, a clothing manufacturer, is experiencing raw material shortages that disrupt the company's production process. The goal of this research is to assess and segment the company's suppliers. The Best Worst Method (BWM) is employed for weighting criteria, and Fuzzy TOPSIS is used to rank alternative providers and subsequently segment them. The dimensions of capabilities (8 criteria with 26 sub-criteria) and willingness (4 criteria with 15 sub-criteria) make up the company's supplier evaluation criteria. The evaluation results suggest that suppliers A2, B2, C2, and D2 are the best in terms of capabilities for label accessories, stickers, paper tags, and polybags, respectively, while A1, B2, C2, and D2 are the best in terms of willingness. Supplier segmentation results show that segmentation 1 includes suppliers C1, B1, B3, and D1, segmentation 2 includes supplier A3, and segmentation 4 includes suppliers A1, A2, B2, B4, C2, and D2.

Industry 4.0 is changing the industrial environment. Particularly, the emerging Industry 4.0 technologies can improve the agri-food supply chain throughout all its stages. This study aims to highlight the benefits of implementing Industry 4.0 in the agri-food supply chain. First, it presents how technologies enhance the agri-food supply chain development. Then, it identifies and highlights the most common challenges that Industry 4.0 implementation faces in agri-food’s environment. After that, it proposes key performance indicators to measure the advantages of this implementation. To achieve this, a systematic literature review was conducted. It combined conceptual and bibliometric analyses of 78 papers. As a result, the most suitable technologies were identified, e.g., Internet of Things, Big Data, blockchain and cyber physical systems. The most used indicators are proposed and the challenges of implementation were detected and classified in three groups, i.e., technical, educational and governmental. This paper highlights and exemplifies the benefits of implementing Industry 4.0 facing the lack of knowledge that exists nowadays. Moreover, it fulfils the gaps in literature, i.e., the lack of information about the implementation of technologies 4.0 or the description of the most relevant indicators for Industry 4.0 implementation.

The environmental scanning been recognized as a vital management tool for well-performing companies. It includes collecting information within the organization's internal, industrial, and external environment that affect performance. The performance Chemelil Sugar Company in Kisumu County has been incompatible with the company's envisage strategic development plan. The company posted a loss of K.sh 821 million in the year June 2018, which is an increase compared to the loss of K.sh 767.25 million incurred in 2016. This formed the motive of the study to examine the effect of environmental scanning on the performance of Chemelil Sugar Company. The study was anchored on open system theory. The research adopted a descriptive research design. The target population was 60. The study focused on the heads of departments as the key respondents. The research instruments used in the study were questionnaires. The study conducted a census because the population size was small and for accuracy. The study applied purposive sampling technique. It was found that environmental scanning is positively and significantly related to performance. The results of regression analysis established that environmental scanning is positively and significantly related to performance (?=.840, p =.035). Thus, a unit increase in environmental scanning practices while holding all other factors constant, increases performance by 0.840 units. The study recommended that the company need to look at the internal analysis, industrial analysis and external analysis to maintain a higher performance level. The company can regularly analyze its industrial environment to determine its opportunities and threats using Porter's Five Factor analysis tool. In addition, it is recommended that the company need to regularly analyze its internal environmental factors to determine its strengths and weaknesses using SWOT as an analysis tool. Conducting environmental audit is necessary and the company needs to prepare plans to cope with dynamically changing environments. Keywords: Environmental scanning, performance, Chemelil Sugar Company, Kisumu County, Kenya

In the industrial environment, a sight glass acts as a gauge for the fluid level in a pressure vessel. Sight glass must have the following physical properties: clarity (clear enough to view the fluid in the vessel), hardness (not easily broken), thermal shock resistance, and corrosion resistance. A historical investigation of the equipment placed in the High-Pressure Decomposer (HPD) unit of the Urea Plant-X and Plant-Y has a pressure of 17 Bar and a temperature of 124-155oC, yielded an analysis of sight glass degradation in carbamate solution. The sight glass that was installed is soda-lime fused glass. The average is based on the equipment's history.

Abstract The article is devoted to the assessment of the comparative experimental studies’ results of various technologies for drying impregnated insulation of power electrical equipment in the process of manufacturing and repair: standard technology, which provides for convective drying using high-power electric ovens, and the proposed technology and methods for accelerated drying in hardware complexes using infrared (IR) radiation. In particular, the article presents the results of the polymer insulation surface microstructure analysis after drying by the indicated methods. The research was carried out in an industrial environment, using specialized certified equipment. In theoretical terms, the article presents the calculations on the rationale for the use of IR radiation during drying of a multilayer insulating structure of various compositions. The studies carried out confirm the hypothesis about the formation of microcavities on the surface and in the thickness of the polymer insulation when using convection during drying, which reduce the quality and reliability of the electrical equipment insulation as a whole. At the same time, the proposed technology and technique for accelerated drying of electrical equipment insulation using IR-radiation gives an opportunity to improve the quality of the resulting polymer insulation, increasing its reliability. In addition, this technology can significantly increase the productivity of insulation repair and reduce energy costs.

The purpose of this study is to determine the marketing strategy of PT XYZ to increase sales. The method used in this research is descriptive using primary and secondary data which are processed based on the results of interviews with the management of PT XYZ. This research uses internal environmental analysis including Segmentation, Target and Position (STP), Marketing Function, Financial Function, Human Resource Function, Operational Function and Marketing Mix (7P), industrial environment analysis (Porter's 5 Strengths), and external environment (PESTEL). From the analysis of the company environment, it is clarified using the IE Matrix and the SWOT analysis resulting in 4 sets of alternative strategies in the SWOT Matrix. Based on data from the company's internal and external environmental factors, the IFE Matrix is 2.96 and the EFE Matrix is 3.06, then the IE Matrix is in quadrant II, where the strategic position of PT XYZ is in a position of growth and development which describes the condition of the company is growing and developing. The result of PT XYZ's SWOT quadrant is in quadrant I, where the strategy commonly used is to support aggressive growth policies. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menentukan strategi pemasaran perusahaan PT XYZ dalam upaya meningkatkan penjualan.
