The nonlinear splitting of magnetoelastic resonance line in powerfully excited ferrite is investigated. It is shown that the amplitude of splited resonance has the same order of value that the amplitude of basis resonance and its frequency is determined by the upper boundary of nonlinear amplitude-frequency characteristic of magnetic system. It is found the threshold character of splitting additional resonance from general. It is determined the possibility of operation of splited elastic resonance frequency by changing of exited magnetic field value which has practical importance.

We investigate the TM-polarized nonlinear surface polaritons (NLSP) propagating along aguided structure consisting of a magnetic optically linear medium and a non-magnetic opticallynonlinear medium with saturable permittivity separated by a flat conductive layer of zerothickness. We consider those values of hosting media bulk material parameters for which theNLSP existence (for zero sheet conductance) has threshold character with respect to the wavesintensity. Based on the exact solution of Maxwell's equations we show that the energy andpropagation properties of the NLSP near the above-light-line condition (1 > n > 0) dependconsiderably on the surface conductivity of the layer, even the threshold character of the NLSPcan be lost; for certain sheet conductance values these waves can exist in a linear limit. TheNLSP propagation constant is defined by both the surface conductivity and field intensity andcan be varied in a wide diapason, which gives an opportunity to obtain and control the importantfor quantum information processing 0 n  condition. For a chosen value of the NLSPpropagation constant the NLSP field intensity and energy flux decries when the surfaceconductivity grows; saturation of the nonlinear permittivity leads to an increase of the NLSPenergy flux compared with Kerr-like nonlinearity.

We have established that increase in magnesium concentration in LiNbO3:Mg(0.19-5.91 mol% MgO) crystals leads to re-structuring in defective structure and optical anomalies connected with the re-structuring. The anomalies have threshold character. Optical uniformity of crystals was shown to increase at Mg concentration close to a threshold one ~3.0 mol% MgO. IR-absorption spectrum in the area of stretching vibrations of OH groups shifts to a high-frequency area (~50 cm-1 in comparison with other crystals), when Mg concentration nears the second threshold. At this sharp decrease in protons amount and jump-like shift of an absorption edge in the shortwave region are also observed. The shift was shown to be caused by the fact that at 5.5 mol% MgO all point defects NbLi are substitutes by Mg cations and with an increase in Mg concentration, Mg cations occupy Li and Nb sites forming point defects MgLi and MgNb.

Self-organization processes that appear as formation of spiral dynamic domains were studied in iron garnets epitaxial films. Application of statistics methods to analysis of large experimental dataset on spiral dynamic domains allowed establishing a threshold character of spiral dynamic domains spatial and temporal characteristics temperature dependencies. The threshold temperature, at which characteristics of spiral dynamic domains exhibit a sharp change, coincides with the temperature of most intense formation of the domains.

Loquat canker, caused by Pseudomonas syringae pv. eriobotryae, is a serious disease of loquat [Eriobotrya japonica (Thunb.) Lindl.] in some countries such as Japan. Therefore, improved canker resistance is an important objective for loquat breeding. The resistance to loquat canker Group C in descendants of ‘Shiromogi’ was expressed only in homozygotes with a recessive gene at a single locus, which was designated pse-c/pse-c. ‘Champagne’, which is distantly related to ‘Shiromogi’, is another cultivar with resistance to Group C. The inheritance of this resistance in progenies of crosses between ‘Champagne’ and susceptible cultivars was examined. The offspring seedlings from 14 crosses between ‘Champagne’ (pse-c/pse-c) and 12 susceptible cultivars (Pse-c/Pse-c or Pse-c/pse-c) were classified into two types of resistant and susceptible. All of the hybrid progenies between ‘Champagne’ (pse-c/pse-c) and Pse-c/Pse-c parents showed two types of resistant and susceptible. The proportion of resistant offspring showed great differences significantly, depending on the hybrid combinations. It ranged from 0.203 to 0.596 with an average of 0.407. It indicated that the resistance was controlled by one or more additional genes or loci other than the Pse-c (pse-c) locus. In addition, the proportion of resistant offspring from crosses between ‘Champagne’ (pse-c/pse-c) and Pse-c/pse-c parents ranged from 0.463 to 0.701 (and averaged 0.601), which seriously deviated from the segregation of 1:1, indicating that the segregation was both Mendelian and polygenic in a threshold character. The proportion of resistant seedlings cannot be predicted by the phenotype and the genotype in the Pse-c (pse-c) locus. Therefore, the general combining ability of ‘Champagne’ resulting from the additional gene effect was estimated, which was 0.407 and 0.101 for ‘Champagne’ × Pse-c/Pse-c and ‘Champagne’ × Pse-c/pse-c cultivars, respectively. The gene effect of susceptible cultivars ranged from –0.204 (‘Yougyoku’) to +0.189 (‘Togoshi’) for ‘Champagne’ × Pse-c/Pse-c cultivars and from –0.138 (‘Taisho’) to +0.089 (‘Nagasakiwase’) for ‘Champagne’ × Pse-c/pse-c cultivars.
