Although cartilage regeneration technology has achieved clinical breakthroughs, whether auricular chondrocytes (AUCs) represent optimal seed cells to achieve stable cartilage regeneration is not clear. In this study, we systematically explore biological behaviors of human- and goat-derived AUCs during in vitro expansion as well as cartilage regeneration in vitro and in vivo. To eliminate material interference, a cell sheet model was used to evaluate the feasibility of dedifferentiated AUCs to re-differentiate and regenerate cartilage in vitro and in vivo. We found that the dedifferentiated AUCs could re-differentiate and regenerate cartilage sheets under the chondrogenic medium system, and the generated chondrocyte sheets gradually matured with increased in vitro culture time (2, 4, and 8 weeks). After the implantation of cartilage sheets with different in vitro culture times in nude mice, optimal neocartilage was formed in the group with 2 weeks in vitro cultivation. After in vivo implantation, ossification only occurred in the group with goat-regenerated cartilage sheet of 8 weeks in vitro cultivation. These results, which were confirmed in human and goat AUCs, suggest that AUCs are ideal seed cells for the clinical translation of cartilage regeneration under the appropriate culture system and culture condition.

AbstractThis study examines the specific effect of Tween 80 on the conversion of anthracene (ANT) in laccase medium system regarding surfactant chemical changes and mechanism. The conversion rate and degradation products of ANT were investigated in different concentrations of Tween 80 solution. Between Tween 80 concentration 0–40 critical micelle concentrations (CMC), the kinetic parameter-k (h−1) and corresponding half-life T1/2 decreased with increasing concentration. When Tween 80 was above 20 CMC the laccase-medium system converted > 95% of ANT to anthraquinone within 12 h. During the entire enzymatic reaction, the laccase activity in the system increased with increasing Tween 80 concentration. Combined with GC/MS analysis of the product, it was speculated that hydrogens belonging to the ether-oxygen bond and carbon–carbon double bond α-CH of Tween 80, were removed by the laccase-media system, promoting its degradation. Additionally, enhanced activity caused by oxygen free radicals (ROS) such as RO• and ROO•, continuously oxidized Tween 80, which in turn produced free radicals while converting ANT. This study provides new theoretical support toward the application of surfactants in the elimination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.

This work provides an analytical approach to characterize and determine solutions to a porous medium system of equations with views in applications to invasive-invaded biological dynamics. Firstly, the existence and uniqueness of solutions are proved. Afterwards, profiles of solutions are obtained making use of the selfsimilar structure that permits to show the existence of a diffusive front. The solutions are then studied within the Travelling Waves (TW) domain showing the existence of potential and exponential profiles in the stable connection that converges to the stationary solutions in which the invasive specie predominates. The TW profiles are shown to exist based on the geometry perturbation theory together with an analytical-topological argument in the phase plane. The finding of an exponential decaying rate (related with the advection and diffusion parameters) in the invaded specie TW is not trivial in the non-linear diffusion case and reflects the existence of a TW trajectory governed by the invaded specie runaway (in the direction of the advection) and the diffusion (acting along a finite speed front or support).

The speed of communication on any route, directly and indirectly through the function of redistribution of traffic volumes, causes an increase in the number of movements, traffic volumes, transport work, in the network of the appropriate type, at the same time the values of the medium system coefficient of passenger capacity use and the number of vehicles may vary both in the direction of the increase and vice versa. The results of the calculations of the basic parameters of the functioning of intercity passenger route systems for various values of the speed of communication on intercity railway routes established the appropriate mathematical model for determining the parameters of this passenger communication.
