Background: There has been rising concern amongst the public regarding their home's proximity to high tension power transmission lines. The primary cause of fear is the impact of the electromagnetic interference (EMI) radiation on the nearby occupants' health. Despite the presence of national permissible limits of EMI radiation, there is still lack of information with regards to the EMI radiation of the types of power lines configuration in Malaysia. Methods: The electric and magnetic fields of several selected power transmission lines were simulated using the EMFACDC software program from the recommendation ITU-T K.90. Five types of power transmission lines available in Malaysia are considered. Results: It was found that the simulated electric and magnetic field levels at all the power lines' right of way (ROW) boundary complies with the prescribed exposure limit. However, the electromagnetic fields (EMF) level increases significantly as the separation distance is reduced from 30m. For a more conservative approach, the ROW can be set at 30m across all transmission voltage level and corridor area condition. Conclusion: It can be concluded that Malaysia's power transmission lines are within the prescribed exposure limits. To further minimize the electric and magnetic field level, it is recommended that the residential building should be built at least 30 meters away from the power transmission lines, especially for the 275kV double circuit, 275/132kV quadruple circuit, and 500kV double circuit lines.

The reaction of different materials to external magnetic fields depends on the frequency of propagation of radio waves in substances and is determined by the dielectric constant, magnetic permeability , by the vectors of the electric and magnetic field. When irradiated with a flat wave on a flat surface, the phenomenon occurs at the boundary between two media, which will be described by an algorithm through reflection and transmission coefficients used in the processing of transmitted and reflected signals from radars, and adopted in radiology as well.

AbstractWe have developed ISEE_Wave (Institute for Space-Earth Environmental Research, Nagoya University - Plasma Wave Analysis Tool), an interactive plasma wave analysis tool for electric and magnetic field waveforms observed by the plasma wave experiment aboard the Arase satellite. ISEE_Wave provides an integrated wave analysis environment on a graphical user interface, where users can visualize advanced wave properties, such as the electric and magnetic field wave power spectra, wave normal polar angle, polarization ellipse, planarity of polarization, and Poynting vector angle. Users can simply select a time interval for their analysis, and ISEE_Wave automatically downloads the waveform data, ambient magnetic field data, and spacecraft attitude data from the data archive repository of the ERG Science Center, and then performs necessary coordinate transformation and spectral matrix calculation. The singular value decomposition technique is used as the core technique for the wave property analysis of ISEE_Wave. On-demand analysis is possible by specifying the parameters of the wave property analysis as well as the plot styles using the graphical user interface of ISEE_Wave. The results can be saved as image files of plots and/or a tplot save file. ISEE_Wave aids in the identification of fine structures of observed plasma waves, wave mode identification, and wave propagation analysis. These properties can be used to understand plasma wave generation, propagation, and wave-particle interaction in the inner magnetosphere. ISEE_Wave can also be applied to general waveform data observed by other spacecraft by using the plug-in procedures to load the data.

The electromagnetic fields affecting the personnel during the maintenance of the traction network from the leiter are considered. The results obtained during calculations using the methodology developed at IrGUPS and implemented in the Fazonord software package show that the electric and magnetic field strengths exceed the permissible levels for electrical personnel
