The method of induced activity of the investigated cross-sections of excitation of isomeric states in the 110Pd(y,n)109m,gPd and 110Pd(n,2n)109m,gPd reactions in the energy range 12–35 MeV is studied. The experimental results are compared with those of calculations carried out using the software package TALYS-1.6.

A theoretical study of nuclear level density of Thorium nuclei that exist on and off the beta-stability line is carried out using Talys 1.6. The level density parameter a and spin cut-off factor [Formula: see text] for Thorium isotopes [Formula: see text]Th are estimated. The values of both these parameters decrease towards the neutron drip line and the proton drip line. Cross-sections for [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text] reactions for Thorium isotopes are also calculated. The estimated and experimental values of cross-sections for [Formula: see text]Th are comparable. These evaluated data are useful in understanding the mechanism of nuclear reactions taking place under extreme conditions including those in nucleosynthesis.

Bremsstrahlung photon beam delivered by a linear electron accelerator has been used to experimentally determine the near threshold photonuclear cross section data of nuclides. For the first time, (γ,n) cross section data was obtained for the astrophysical important nucleus 162Er. Moreover, theoretical calculations have been applied using the TALYS 1.6 code. The effect of the gamma ray strength function on the cross section calculations has been studied. A satisfactorily reproduction of the available experimental data of photonuclear cross section at the energy region below 20 MeV could be achieved. The photon flux was monitored by measuring the photons yield from seven well known (γ, n) reactions from the threshold energy of each reaction up to the end-point energy of the photon beam used. An integrated cross-section 87 ± 14 mb is calculated for the photonuclear reaction 162Er(γ,n) at the energy 9.2 - 14 MeV. The effective cross section estimated using the TALYS code range between 89 and 96 mb depending on the γ-strength function used. The result for 162Er(γ,n), is found to be in good agreement with the theoretical values obtained by TALYS 1.6. So, the present indirect process could be a valuable tool to estimate the effective cross section of (γ,n) reaction for various isotopes using bremsstrahlung beams.

AbstractThe main purpose of this study is the investigation of a cross section of proton induced nuclear reactions. The excitation functions of the reactions: 56Fe(p,2n)55Co 58Fe(p,2n)57Co, 111Cd(p,2n)110In, 112Cd(p,2n)111In, 125Te(p,2n)124I, 126Te(p,2n)125I, 68Zn(p,2n)67Gawere investigated. These reactions were studied as the resulting radioisotopes are used in medical applications. Theoretical excitation functions have been calculated with TALYS 1.6 nuclear reaction simulation code. The calculated excitation functions are compared with the experimental data.

Isomeric yields ratios and energy differential cross-section of metastable state excitation in the [Formula: see text] reaction has been studied in the 10–22[Formula: see text]MeV end-point energy range of bremsstrahlung beams. Experimental data are compared with Hauser–Feshbach calculations performed with TALYS-1.6 statistical model code.

Abstract:The cross sections for (n,x) reactions on samarium isotopes were measured at (d-T) neutron energies of 13.5 and 14.8 MeV with the activation technique. Samples were activated along with Nb and Al monitor foils to determine the incident neutron flux. Theoretical calculations of excitation functions were performed using the nuclear model codes TALYS-1.6 and EMPIRE-3.2 Malta with default parameters, at neutron energies varying from the reaction threshold to 20 MeV. The results were discussed and compared with experimental data found in the literature. At neutron energies 13.5 and 14.8 MeV, the cross sections of the
