Image Coregistration for InSAR processing is a time-consuming procedure that is usually processed in batch mode. With the availability of low-energy GPU accelerators, processing at the edge is now a promising perspective. Starting from the individuation of the most computationally intensive kernels from existing algorithms, we decomposed the cross-correlation problem from a multilevel point of view, intending to design and implement an efficient GPU-parallel algorithm for multiple settings, including the edge computing one. We analyzed the accuracy and performance of the proposed algorithm—also considering power efficiency—and its applicability to the identified settings. Results show that a significant speedup of InSAR processing is possible by exploiting GPU computing in different scenarios with no loss of accuracy, also enabling onboard processing using SoC hardware.

In this paper, an algorithm for solving the multi-target correlation and co-location problem of aerial-ground heterogeneous system is investigated. Aiming at the multi-target correlation problem, the fusion algorithm of visual axis correlation method and improved topological similarity correlation method are adopted in view of large parallax and inconsistent scale between the aerial and ground perspectives. First, the visual axis was preprocessed by the threshold method, so that the sparse targets were initially associated. Then, the improved topological similarity method was used to further associate dense targets with the relative position characteristics between targets. The shortcoming of dense target similarity with small difference was optimized by the improved topological similarity method. For the problem of co-location, combined with the multi-target correlation algorithm in this paper, the triangulation positioning model was used to complete the co-location of multiple targets. In the experimental part, simulation experiments and flight experiments were designed to verify the effectiveness of the algorithm. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively achieve multi-target correlation positioning, and that the positioning accuracy is obviously better than other positioning methods.

In bearings-only tracking systems, the pseudolinear Kalman filter (PLKF) has advantages in stability and computational complexity, but suffers from correlation problems. Existing solutions require bias compensation to reduce the correlation between the pseudomeasurement matrix and pseudolinear noise, but incomplete compensation may cause a loss of estimation accuracy. In this paper, a new pseudolinear filter is proposed under the minimum mean square error (MMSE) framework without requirement of bias compensation. The pseudolinear state-space model of bearings-only tracking is first developed. The correlation between the pseudomeasurement matrix and pseudolinear noise is thoroughly analyzed. By splitting the bearing noise term from the pseudomeasurement matrix and performing some algebraic manipulations, their cross-covariance can be calculated and incorporated into the filtering process to account for their effects on estimation. The target state estimation and its associated covariance can then be updated according to the MMSE update equation. The new pseudolinear filter has a stable performance and low computational complexity and handles the correlation problem implicitly under a unified MMSE framework, thus avoiding the severe bias problem of the PLKF. The posterior Cramer–Rao Lower Bound (PCRLB) for target state estimation is presented. Simulations are conducted to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

AbstractThe pair correlation is a localized statistic for sequences in the unit interval. Pseudo-random behavior with respect to this statistic is called Poissonian behavior. The metric theory of pair correlations of sequences of the form $$(a_n \alpha )_{n \ge 1}$$ ( a n α ) n ≥ 1 has been pioneered by Rudnick, Sarnak and Zaharescu. Here $$\alpha $$ α is a real parameter, and $$(a_n)_{n \ge 1}$$ ( a n ) n ≥ 1 is an integer sequence, often of arithmetic origin. Recently, a general framework was developed which gives criteria for Poissonian pair correlation of such sequences for almost every real number $$\alpha $$ α , in terms of the additive energy of the integer sequence $$(a_n)_{n \ge 1}$$ ( a n ) n ≥ 1 . In the present paper we develop a similar framework for the case when $$(a_n)_{n \ge 1}$$ ( a n ) n ≥ 1 is a sequence of reals rather than integers, thereby pursuing a line of research which was recently initiated by Rudnick and Technau. As an application of our method, we prove that for every real number $$\theta >1$$ θ > 1 , the sequence $$(n^\theta \alpha )_{n \ge 1}$$ ( n θ α ) n ≥ 1 has Poissonian pair correlation for almost all $$\alpha \in {\mathbb {R}}$$ α ∈ R .

Abstract Jet identification tools are crucial for new physics searches at the LHC and at future colliders. We introduce the concept of Mass Unspecific Supervised Tagging (MUST) which relies on considering both jet mass and transverse momentum varying over wide ranges as input variables — together with jet substructure observables — of a multivariate tool. This approach not only provides a single efficient tagger for arbitrary ranges of jet mass and transverse momentum, but also an optimal solution for the mass correlation problem inherent to current taggers. By training neural networks, we build MUST-inspired generic and multi-pronged jet taggers which, when tested with various new physics signals, clearly outperform the variables commonly used by experiments to discriminate signal from background. These taggers are also efficient to spot signals for which they have not been trained. Taggers can also be built to determine, with a high degree of confidence, the prongness of a jet, which would be of utmost importance in case a new physics signal is discovered.
