Power system scheduling of renewable energy sources has been studied extensively due to the severe increase in pollution caused by conventional energy sources. In this study, a multi-objective scheduling model of a hybrid microgrid is proposed to minimize the cost of hybrid microgrids and maximize the power supply reliability. The main power generation units such as the wind turbines, photovoltaic (PV) cells, and battery banks are used in this hybrid microgrid. In this study, the optimal sizing of PV panels and battery banks are obtained using multi-objective particle swarm optimization (MOPSO) for the proposed multi-objective scheduling model. The lifetime of battery banks is considered in the energy storage system (ESS) model. Finally, the practicality of the scheduling model proposed in this study is verified by four examples.

PurposeDue to fierce competition in the mobile retailing market, it is desirable to identify the success factors driving consumers to reuse a mobile shopping application. This research intends to develop a model for mobile shopping app success by integrating an e-commerce systems success (ESS) model and sales promotion benefits and parasocial interaction literatures.Design/methodology/approach302 useable online questionnaires were obtained. The data analysis was conducted using the structural equation modelling.FindingsThe results indicate the validity of the ESS model in predicting consumers' reuse intention of mobile shopping apps where three quality dimensions of system, information and service facilitate both perceived value and user satisfaction, which in turn generates reuse intention. Furthermore, savings and entertainment denoting the utilitarian and hedonic sales promotion benefits have positive impact on perceived value but have no influence on satisfaction. Parasocial intention between consumers and sellers facilitates both value perception and satisfaction.Originality/valueThis research contributes to the mobile retailing literature by identifying the success factors driving consumers' continuance intention of mobile shopping apps. Theoretically, it validates and extends the ESS model in mobile shopping app context by identifying savings, entertainment and parasocial interaction as additional success factors. Based on the findings, two approaches are proposed to suggest mobile retailers design a successful mobile shopping app.

In the context of climate changes and the rapid growth of energy consumption, intermittent renewable energy sources (RES) are being predominantly installed in power systems. It has been largely elucidated that challenges that RES present to the system can be mitigated with energy storage systems (ESS). However, besides providing flexibility to intermittent RES, ESS have other sources of revenue, such as price arbitrage in the markets, balancing services, and reducing the cost of electricity procurement to end consumers. In order to operate the ESS in the most profitable way, it is often necessary to make optimal siting and sizing decisions, and to determine optimal ways for the ESS to participate in a variety of energy and ancillary service markets. As a result, many publications on ESS models with various goals and operating environments are available. This paper aims at presenting the results of these papers in a structured way. A standard ESS model is first outlined, and that is followed by a literature review on operational and investment ESS models at the transmission and distribution levels. Both the price taking and price making models are elaborated on and presented in detail. Based on the examined body of work, the paper is concluded with recommendations for future research paths in the analysis of ESS.

The ATLAS Event Streaming Service (ESS) at the LHC is an approach to preprocess and deliver data for Event Service (ES) that has implemented a fine-grained approach for ATLAS event processing. The ESS allows one to asynchronously deliver only the input events required by ES processing, with the aim to decrease data traffic over WAN and improve overall data processing throughput. A prototype of ESS was developed to deliver streaming events to fine-grained ES jobs. Based on it, an intelligent Data Delivery Service (iDDS) is under development to decouple the “cold format” and the processing format of the data, which also opens the opportunity to include the production systems of other HEP experiments. Here we will at first present the ESS model view and its motivations for iDDS system. Then we will also present the iDDS schema, architecture and the applications of iDDS.

We present a theoretical investigation of divorce. Arguments are couched in terms of birds, but should be applicable to other groups of organisms. We model a population in which there is a range of both male and female qualities, and decisions on whether to divorce are made by both members of a breeding pair. The reproductive success of a pair is additive in male and female qualities in the baseline case, but we also consider the effect of quality interactions. The availability of new mates depends on the divorce strategy of all population members. We allow for the possibility that mate choice is associative in quality, although we do not explicitly model the mate choice process. Using a game–theoretical model which incorporates these factors we investigate the following issues: the form of the evolutionary stable strategy, and the implications of this strategy for quality correlations in breeding pairs and for the distribution of qualities among unpaired individuals; divorce rates, reproductive success and mate quality changes over the lifetime of an individual, and the dependence of these qualtities on the individual's quality; mean population divorce rates and their dependence on costs of divorce, longevity and the extent of quality variation in the two sexes; initiators of divorce and reproductive success before and after divorce.
