The prediction theory and methodology of ore prospecting were developed from an in-depth study of 129 typical deposits in China. It has been verified to be an effective method that is particularly suitable for the initial ore prospecting. In this method, the internal and external factors of metallogenesis are combined together to construct a geological model of prospecting prediction, which consists of metallogenic geological body, metallogenic structure, metallogenic structural plane and metallogenic characteristics. The Huili area is located in the western margin of the Yangtze Plate, where the regional metallogenic geological conditions are superior, and a series of unique iron-copper deposits were formed. In recent years, great breakthroughs and progress have been made in the deep and peripheral areas of the Huili copper orefield. Herein, we take the Huili copper orefield as a typical example to illustrate the specific application of this method in deep ore prospecting of hydrothermal deposits. The metallogenic geological body is the ore-hosting volcanic rocks (albitite in the Hekou Group), and the main metallogenic structure and structural planes are interfaces between basic (intermediate) volcanic rocks and sedimentary rocks and the possible volcanic vent. Combined with the summary of metallogenic characteristics, we constructed a geological model for ore prospecting in the Huili copper orefield.

With the increasing demand for mineral resources, there is an inevitable trend to carry out deep prospecting in existing old mines to find a second or even third mining space. Deep prospecting is also an affordable and practical way to prolong the lives of mines and provide a sustainable supply of mineral resources. The magnetic survey is arguably the most effective method for iron ore prospecting. In this paper, a high resolution airborne magnetic (HRAM) survey for deep iron prospecting in the Jinling iron ore cluster (JIOC) was carried out in 2018, which renewed the field magnetic data of the JIOC obtained in the 1980s. From previous studies, almost all iron deposits in the JIOC are spatially distributed in the contact zone between the intrusive rocks and the surrounding rocks. The key prospecting areas were inferred by delineating intrusive rock boundaries via boundary enhancement and edge detection methods, and one of the areas was verified by drilling.

The recent development in remote sensing imagery and the use of remote sensing detection feature spectrum information together with the geochemical data is very useful for the surface element quantitative remote sensing inversion study. This aim of this article is to select appropriate methods that would make it possible to have rapid economic prospecting. The Qishitan gold polymetallic deposit in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Northwest China has been selected for this study. This paper establishes inversion maps based on the contents of metallic elements by integrating geochemical exploration data with ASTER and WorldView-2 remote sensing data. Inversion modelling maps for As, Cu, Hg, Mo, Pb, and Zn are consistent with the corresponding geochemical anomaly maps, which provide a reference for metallic ore prospecting in the study area. ASTER spectrum covers short-wave infrared and has better accuracy than WorldView-2 data for the inversion of some elements (e.g., Au, Hg, Pb, and As). However, the high spatial resolution of WorldView-2 drives the final content inversion map to be more precise and to better localize the anomaly centers of the inversion results. After scale conversion by re-sampling and kriging interpolation, the modeled and predicted accuracy of the models with square interpolation is much closer compare with the ground resolution of the used remote sensing data. This means our results are much satisfactory as compared to other interpolation methods. This study proves that quantitative remote sensing has great potential in ore prospecting and can be applied to replace traditional geochemical exploration to some extent.

Abstract. Dykes are always closely coexisting with ore veins in deposit, they are of great significance in the revelation of regional geology evolution, prosperity of ore prospecting. This paper presents a method for the generalization of dykes as part of automated geological map generalization progress. Based on the principle of good continuation, dykes were amalgamated preliminarily. Then the reserve quota was calculated on the basis of radical law for the editing of dykes. Finally, the outer shape and internal construction of dykes were simplified. The experiment results show that the generalization method can avoid discontinuity as a prerequisite to retaining formation lithology and characteristics of geological structure. This method offers a new perspective for dealing with exceptional geographic elements while generalizing a geologic map.
