The last works of Joan Robinson showed increasing preoccupation with ecological and environmental issues. Some of these preoccupations were already present in some of her main earlier works, but as she approached old age, the discussion of these questions became more frequent, as well as of other issues such as the arms race and the nuclear threat to the human race. However, Robinson had not dealt with ecological and environmental questions by means of a systematic approach. This article evaluates Robinson’s views on ecology and environment not only because this is a gap in the literature on her work, but mainly because some of Robinson’s insights on these questions are yet to be fully developed. Therefore, this article mixes the history of economic thought with political economy, Robinson’s perspectives being summarized and then analyzed in light of the ecological critique as established by Nicholas Georgescu-Roegen. The article shows that despite the fact that Robinson could have developed more profoundly the logical consequences of some of her core contributions to economic theory to a broader ecological critique, many of her theoretical perspectives overlap with Georgescu-Roegen’s ecological economics, being able to contribute to a heterodox critique of the neoclassical approach.

Ecolinguistic is a branch linguistics who studies the role of linguistics in problem ecology and environment. Ecolinguistics is an interdisciplinary study that looks at the link between ecosystems and linguistics. This study involves sociology, anthropology, psychology and political science. The socio-ecological aspects greatly affect the balance, preservation and inheritance of the environment for current and future generations. Falewuo's lexicon, for example Niru, still remains in the memory of the older generation, but the entity has become extinct. The purpose of this research is to maintain local ecological wisdoms that need to be included in the discourse of a healthy and green environment (greenspeak), bearing in mind that the soul (ideological, philosophical, socio-ecological concepts) of the community is imbued with these local wisdoms. There are changes due to the emergence of practical tools made of plastic, aluminum and iron. Of course, some that have been used can damage the environment and lose the vocabulary of bamboo in the Nias language because it is rarely used. This study used qualitative methods. The qualitative method is a research method based on existing facts or phenomena that empirically live in the speakers (Sudaryanto, 2015). The theory used is Mbete's ecolinguistic theory. From the research results, it was found that the changes in the lifestyle of the Nias people had changed considerably and did not pay attention to nature as a provider and life. The conclusion of this study is that the pattern of social life has also begun to shift towards individual traits. Environment and language are closely related because every flora and fauna that exists must have the meaning of the wealth of the language-speaking community.

In this paper a research review is conducted considering the waste generated in the Old town area which lies in Leh, the capital city of Ladakh. If we trace back from 60’s era, Ladakh was a region where waste generation was negligible but as the time passes and improvement in infrastructure like road networks, army/military area development, increased influx of tourism, change in economy patter of Ladakhi families, lifestyle and way of living along with rapid growth of consumer goods, it experience changes for which the region was not prepared for. Due to this rapid urbanization mass production of waste started which started causing environmental misbalance. These waste are of various categories like, solid, toxic, chemical. Bio etc. Since waste was never considered as issue, less importance was given to it and thus when generation of waste increases, Leh lack in its management. Most of the waste was dumped in the area which was outside the habitable land mainly valley. Thus in the paper an attempt has been made to identify waste typology and how it can be reuse or renewed which can help in preservation of the existing ecology and environment. Also various measures and method adopted by the local authorities will be studied.

Mother Nature has bestowed India with huge resources of coal, iron ore, bauxite, manganese and limestone. India has one of the lowest per capita availability of land due to population of more than 1.3 billion. The transformation from under developed to developed economy warrants enormous increase in mineral production. This will generate additional huge quantities of waste. The industry is already facing problems related to land acquisition and environmental clearances. Sustainable development of Indian mineral industry requires reprocessing, reuse and recycling of mine waste. To achieve this, economic and innovative mineral processing methods are required which will result in least damage to ecology and environment.
