Batteryless hybrid printed electronic systems manufactured on glass substrates are reported. The electronic system contains a sensor capable of detecting water, an electrochromic display, conductors, a silicon chip providing the power supply through energy harvesting of electromagnetic radiation, and a silicon-based microcontroller responsible for monitoring the sensor status and the subsequent update of the corresponding display segment. The silicon-based components were assembled on the glass substrate by using a pick and place equipment, while the remainder of the system was manufactured by screen printing. Many printed electronic components, often relying on organic materials, are sensitive to variations in environmental conditions, and the reported system paves the way for the creation of electronic sensor platforms on glass substrates for utilization in see-through applications in harsh conditions. Additionally, this generic hybrid printed electronic sensor system also demonstrates the ability to enable autonomous operation through energy harvesting in future smart window applications.

The innovation potential of lightweight design in its scientific and technical foundations lies in the systematic, i.e. integrated and cross-material consideration of the process chains. This consideration is one of the main goals of dahlia project - Digital Technologies for Hybrid Lightweight Structures. The end-to-end digitalisation of the development, manufacturing and validation processes provides a first understanding of its process parameter-structure-property relationships, which is essential for developing a representative digital twin. To investigate these aspects in the design phase profiles made of aluminium alloy are exemplarily studied. Important aspects for the development of a digital twin are considered, such as a knowledge-based selection of design and simulation tools, their respective parametrisation and interface communication. First results are presented as well as the development aspects of a digital twin from its nominal offline form up to its specific application at a generic lightweight structure.

Aronia Medik. (chokeberry, Rosaceae) is a genus of woody shrubs with two or three North American species. Species boundaries and relationships between species of Aronia are frequently under question. The only European species in the genus, A. mitschurinii A.K.Skvortsov & Maitul., is suggested to be an inter-generic hybrid. In order to clarify the relationships between species of Aronia, we performed several morphometric and molecular analyses and found that the molecular and morphological diversity within data on American Aronia is low, and species boundaries are mostly not clearly expressed. Whereas morphology is able to separate American species from A. mitschurinii, there is no support for such discrimination from the molecular data; our analyses did not reveal evidence of A. mitschurinii hybrid origin. We believe that higher-resolution markers are needed to resolve species boundaries and putative hybridization events.
