Hypodermoclysis is the continuous subcutaneous infusion of a parenteral solution into dermal tissue, which is typically associated with skin lesions and cosmetic issues in the majority of patients. Scarring and pigmentation are two of the potential skin lesions after hypodermoclysis. The way skin diseases and cosmetic issues are treated has altered dramatically as a result of laser technology. This is the first article to our knowledge that describes the treatment of pigmentation and scarring produced by Hypodermoclysis cutaneous damage by using laser treatment. It was vital to select the appropriate endpoint, technology, and configuration parameters. The lesion was completely resolved after five months of treatment with four laser sessions. The first session used a fractional Er-Yag laser to perform cold ablation. The remaining sessions used 1064 and 585 nm Nd-Yag Q-switch lasers to operate in the nanosecond region. To minimize the danger of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), the treated region was prepped between laser treatments with 4% hydroquinone (HQ) cream. Our protocol may reduce scars and pigmentation while minimizing adverse effects and downtime.

An immunocompromised district is an area of irregular immune control of the skin occurring due to cutaneous damage of any sort conducive to the development of infections, immune reactions, and tumors. Superficial dermatophytoses are one of the most commonly encountered cutaneous infections, which, in some cases, may have various atypical presentations. Herein, we present a series of eleven such cases in which the presentation of a superficial dermatophytosis was altered by the concurrent presence of a different unrelated dermatosis on the same anatomical site.

Multiple adult xanthogranuloma (MAXG) is an uncommon adult form of xanthogranuloma. The clinical manifestation of MAXG is relatively rare, but it has characteristic histopathological and immunohistochemical features. MAXG is mainly associated with cutaneous damage, and extracutaneous manifestations such as cervical spine, intracardiac, and periocular lesions have rarely been reported. In patients with systemic association, clinicians should pay attention to the possibility of hematological malignancies. We report the case of a 17-year-old man with multiple lesions on the head, face, neck, arms and trunk, along with the clinical manifestations and pathological features.

Toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN) or Lyell’s syndrome is a rare but serious potentially fatal autoimmune dermatologic disease. It is characterized by cutaneous damage due to apoptosis of the keratinocytes with consequent dermo-epidermal separation for a >30% extension of the body surface, associated with mucosal lesions. It is due to the activation of the immune system, often following the intake of potentially toxic drugs [antibiotics, antiepileptics, non-steroidal antinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), allopurinol] or after infection with herpetic viruses or mycoplasma. We describe the case of an 82- year-old man starting therapy of Allopurinol for hyperuricemia. After four days the patient shows an extensive erythematous rash localized to the trunk and upper limbs. The following day the rash also involves the face, tending to the confluence and after another two days, the macules turn into de-epithelized areas because of dermo-epidermal separation and the lesions involve the oral and ocular mucosa, causing dysphagia and difficulty in speaking. He was treated with steroid and antihistamine therapy, suspending the previously undertaken therapy with antibiotic and Allopurinol.

Background We assessed correlations of smoking habits and alcohol consumption with disease activity or damage in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods A total of 505 patients with SLE were enrolled in the Korean Lupus Network (KORNET) SLE registry from January 2014 to January 2016. Disease activity and organ damage were measured by the SLE Disease Activity Index 2000 (SLEDAI-2K) and the Systemic Lupus International Collaborating Clinics/American College of Rheumatology (SLICC/ACR) damage index, respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to analyze associations with cutaneous lesions. Results There were no differences in SLEDAI-2K and SLICC/ACR damage indices according to either smoking status or alcohol consumption. More frequent cutaneous damage was observed in current alcohol drinkers compared with non-current alcohol drinkers ( p = 0.020). Cutaneous damage was significantly associated with alcohol consumption (odds ratio (OR) 4.048, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.251–12.102, p = 0.020). Both low (1–5 glasses/week) and high (≥6 glasses/week) amounts of alcohol consumption had a significant impact on cutaneous damage compared with the absence of current alcohol consumption ( p = 0.033 and p = 0.027, respectively). Pairwise comparison of alcohol consumption and smoking status with cutaneous damage showed that only alcohol consumption was significantly associated with the presence of cutaneous damage, compared with non-current alcohol consumption and non-current smoking (OR 3.513, 95% CI 1.130–10.920, p =0.030). Conclusions Current alcohol consumption, but not smoking, might influence the development of cutaneous damage in patients with SLE.
