Dentist’s Appearance: Does It Matter?

Dentistry is a client dependent field. Other than the dentist’s skills, the dentist’s appearance has been observed to affect the patient’s perception of the clinician. This research was conducted to assess patient’s perception of the dentist’s appearance based on the dentist’s attire, gender and age. A total number of 492 Malay respondents were involved in this study. A set of questionnaires was randomly distributed via google forms. This questionnaire consisted of three sections, including socio-demographic details of the respondents, patient’s perception towards dentist’s attire and patient’s perception towards dentist’s gender and age. The result showed that respondents consisted of 78% female and 22% male. The highest percentage of participants was in the age group of 18-30 (85.6%), while the lowest percentage of respondents came from the age group of 49-60 (5.3%). The majority of respondents (51%) preferred a dentist who wears a white coat followed by a dentist in scrub (38.2%) and a dentist dressed in formal attires (9.3%). Only 1.4% of respondents selected a dentist who wears casual attire. Participants also prefer dentist in the age group of 41-60 years old, while participants had no preference toward dentist’s gender. A final open-ended question showed respondents also preferred to see dentists with acceptable dental appearance, good behaviour and established qualification. In conclusion, a dentist’s appearance is important to secure a promising interpretation of the patient towards the dentist.

Ultrafast dynamics with the exact factorization

The exact factorization of the time-dependent electron–nuclear wavefunction has been employed successfully in the field of quantum molecular dynamics simulations for interpreting and simulating light-induced ultrafast processes. In this work, we summarize the major developments leading to the formulation of a trajectory-based approach, derived from the exact factorization equations, capable of dealing with nonadiabatic electronic processes, and including spin-orbit coupling and the non-perturbative effect of an external time-dependent field. This trajectory-based quantum-classical approach has been dubbed coupled-trajectory mixed quantum-classical (CT-MQC) algorithm, whose performance is tested here to study the photo-dissociation dynamics of IBr. Students Critical Thinking Reviewed from Field-Dependent and Field-Independent on Number Pattern Material

One of the competencies or learning goals in the 2013 curriculum is to promote curiosity, creativity, and the ability to arranging problem to build critical thinking which are necessary for intelligent life. However, in reality, students's critical thinking skills in mathematics are still not satisfactory. Mathematic’ material and critical thinking skills are two things that cannot be separated because mathematics material can be understood through critical thinking which is trained through learning mathematics. Learning number patterns aims to equip students to think critically, analyze, creatively, logically, and systematically. Students' critical thinking skills have related to the existence of cognitive aspects like how to complete a task, make procedures design, and be able to give the right solution in solving problems. This study aims to understand how students of junior high school solve math problems with number pattern material reviewed from students's critical thinking with Field-Dependent (FD) and Field-Independent (FI) cognitive style. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive method with case study design. From the results of study conducted on 14 students, there were 64% students in the Independent field category and 36% students in the Dependent field category. Of the 2 students, among them taken in the Independent field category, they have high-level critical thinking skills and medium-level critical thinking skills. There are 2 students among those taken in the Dependent field category have critical thinking skills on medium level and low level.

Total lab automation in microbiology: An overview of BD Kiestra InoqulA and Copan WASP

Total Laboratory Automation (TLA) is the future of laboratory diagnostics due to its efficiency, reproducibility, better turnaround time (TATs), precision, sensitivity, and specificity. Microbiology is generally considered a human dependent field and still, most of the microbiology world is confused with TLA implementation. Two better-claimed technologies BD Kiestra InoqulA and Copan WASP have emerged as a well satisfactory solution of microbiology automation in the last decade. Here we design a practical approach and reviewed all studies of BD Kiestra InoqulA and Copan WASP, assessed microbiology samples in a healthcare setting.
