Green library: Reducing carbon footprints towards Sustainable Development in libraries: A Case Study of Federal College of Education Library, Zaria, Nigeria

Carbon footprint has become a popular way of communicating climate change issues and the need to change behaviour. Reduction of environmental burden or everyday environmental actions played an important role in the day-to-day activities of libraries. Libraries are in an excellent position to be both an ecological operator and promoter of environmental awareness. The methodology employed is survey. data collected was analyzed using decision mean of 3.00. findings from the study revealed that, libraries in Nigeria are not well ground on green library requirements, due to insufficient manpower, and tools. As a result of this, this study recommends that librarians must faces the challenge of finding solutions that adequately address these issues without compromising its economic development goals and the living standards of its people through environment awareness, communication strategies and reduction on environmental burden.

An Intelligent and Interactive Gaming System to Promote Environment Awareness using Context-Based Storying

Since a child, I loved to play video games, especially platform games such as Metal Slug™, Mega Man™, etc.. Therefore, I was inspired to design my own platform game; with this paper, I have the opportunity to introduce our platform game, which is a “JFF Game” we developed using Unity and Visual Studio 2019.

AI and ML for Human-Robot Cooperation in Intelligent and Flexible Manufacturing

Human–robot cooperation aims to increase the flexibilization of manufacturing systems. This requires safe human–machine interaction (e.g. with collaborative robots) as well as self and environment awareness capabilities to interact autonomously and smartly between humans and machines. Therefore, the goal of this chapter is to conceptualize and identify the set of real-time information processing and decision-making capabilities required for collaborative robots to be considered as a safe companion in the context of human–robot cooperation (HRC). In particular, the chapter provides an overview of appropriate artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) concepts, formally introduces the concept of a safety-aware cyber-physical system and defines a general taxonomy for the perceptive and cognitive problems arising in the context of intelligent and flexible HRC.

The Role of Waste Banks to Improve Community Environment Awareness

Permasalahan lingkungan menjadi polemik bagi masyarakat. Ragam masalah lingkungan menjadikan masyarakat berpikir bagaimana mengatasi permasalahannya sehingga dapat menjaga kelangsungan alam. Satu diantara permasalahan lingkungan adalah peningkatan intensitas sampah dan pengelolaan sampah berbasis lingkungan. Adapun langkah konkret pengelolaan sampah dengan menggerakkan aktivitas 3R (reduce, reuse, dan recycle) melalui bank sampah. Artikel ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan aktivitas pengurus dan nasabah yang menerapkan aktivitas 3R yang mampu meningkatkan kesadaran lingkungan masyarakat. Pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif digunakan dalam penelitian. Tiga tahapan pengumpulan data dan analisis menghasilkan data jenuh mengenai aktivitas 3R di bank sampah gemilang. Hasil penelitian mendeskripsikan bahwa masyarakat mampu melakukan pemilahan dan pengolahan sampah dan mengubah pandangan masyarakat terhadap sampah yang dahulunya menjijikkan menjadi menjanjikan. Bagi masyarakat keberadaan bank sampah gemilang memberikan edukasi terhadap perilaku sadar lingkungan secara konsisten. Hal ini dikarenakan masyarakat sudah bisa memilih sampah rumah tangga sebelum dibuang ke Tempat Pembuangan Sementara (TPS) sampah.

Responding to the character education on the tradition of mopolihi lo limu (lemon bathing) at Gorontalo

Character building has become strategic way for government to prepare Indonesian golden generation on 2045. President Regulation Number 87 Year 2017 about Reinforcement of Character Education (PPK) suggests 18 students’ character value through the harmony of psyche building, sense building, thought building, and physical building. Those could be implemented through the development of local wisdom and the improvement of special character and identity of a region. Gorontalo is one of nineteen regions in Indonesia which regulates local laws has various local laws, one of them is Mopolihu Lo Limu (Lemon Bathing) for female children under 1 to 3 years old. Mopolihu Lo Limu tradition has numbers of values which are relevant to the Reinforcement of Character Education (PPK) such as: (1) Religiosity, (2) Honesty, (3) Tolerance, (4) Discipline, (5) Hard work, (6) Independent, (7) Love the Mother Land, (8) Friendly, (9) Love Peace, (10) Social Awareness, (11) Environment Awareness and (12) Responsible. This research used descriptive qualitative method which was relevant to the object. It took place at Gorontalo as the research setting. The object of the research was the Mopolihu Lo Limu (Lemon Bathing) for female children.

The Determinant Factors of Green Practices Adoption For Logistics Companies in Malaysia. A Case Study of PKT Logistics Group Sdn. Bhd. // // // // // This study examines factors that influence the intention to adopt green practices for logistics companies. The determinant factors include technological, organizational, environmental and environmental awareness. The data came from the questionnaire survey on logistics companies in Malaysia, and 150 samples were analyzed. The survey results reveal that three of the factors show insignificant result towards green practices adoption while one factor has positive influences on the intention to adopt green practices. Technological, environment and environment awareness factors exhibit insignificant influences on the willingness to adopt green practices while the organizational factors exhibit significant influences on the willingness to adopt green practices.
