The object of the research is the technical system of a multipurpose machine tool, the tools of which can fail and be restored. A failed tool remains functional for some time due to a temporary reserve until a parametric failure occurs, the magnitude of which is random. All random variables describing the system have general distributions. The apparatus for constructing a mathematical model of the described system is a semi–Markov process with a discrete–continuous phase space of states. The stationary distribution of the embedded Markov chain is found explicitly. For systems with parallel connection, series connection with disconnection and without disconnection of elements, the stationary time between failures of the system, the stationary time spent in the state of failure and the stationary system availability factor are found. A numerical example shows the dependence of the stationary characteristics of the system on the size of the time reserve.

The objects of the study were diagnostic features that allow determining the quality of controlling temperature modes of induction crucible melting. For this, in the normalized space of feature factors, which are the content of SiO2 and FeO+Fe2O3 in slag, a discriminant function is constructed and a decision rule is obtained in the form of a linear classifier, which allows determining in which mode the process was carried out. It is shown that this rule is the basis for identifying an event qualified as a parametric failure, and it can be included in the general structure of the parametric failure function. The parametric failure function constructed for the temperature control system of induction crucible melting makes it possible to ascertain that the control system does not meet the specified requirements for a specific temperature mode of melting. The mechanism of inferencing regarding the occurrence of a parametric failure based on this function is as follows. If the decision rule showed that the object belongs to the “low-temperature mode” class, although the process under these conditions should have been carried out in the high-temperature mode, a parametric failure is recorded. In this case, the numerical value of this function takes the value of “1”, otherwise – “0”. The inferencing mechanism works similarly if, on the basis of the decision rule, it is revealed that the process was carried out in the high-temperature mode, although under these conditions it should have been carried out in the low-temperature mode. Based on the constructed parametric failure function, practical problems related to planning maintenance of the temperature control system integrated into the melting complex or organizational and technical measures aimed at minimizing violations of the melting regulations can be solved

Background and objectivesDifferences in CKD progression by sex have been hypothesized to explain disparities in access to kidney transplantation in children. This study aims to identify distinct trajectories of eGFR decline and to investigate the association of sex with eGFR decline.Design, setting, participants, & measurementsWe used data from the CKD in Children study. Latent class mixed models were used to identify eGFR trajectories and patient characteristics were compared between trajectories. Progression was studied to two outcomes: ESKD (dialysis or transplantation) and a combined outcome of ESKD or 50% eGFR decline from baseline, using multivariable parametric failure time models.ResultsAmong 888 patients, 613 with nonglomerular and 275 with glomerular diseases, we observed four and two distinct GFR trajectories, respectively. Among patients with nonglomerular diseases, there was a higher proportion of males in the group with a low baseline GFR. This group had an increased risk of ESKD or 50% GFR decline, despite a similar absolute decline in GFR. Eight patients with nonglomerular diseases, mostly males with obstructive uropathies, had a more rapid absolute GFR decline. However, the association between male sex and rapid absolute GFR decline was NS after adjustment for age, baseline GFR, and proteinuria. Among patients with glomerular diseases, a subgroup including mostly females with systemic immunologic diseases or crescentic GN had a rapid absolute GFR decline.ConclusionsThis study identifies different trajectories of CKD progression in children and found a faster progression of CKD in females in patients with glomerular diseases, but no significant sex difference in patients with nonglomerular diseases. The differences in progression seem likely explained by sex differences in the underlying primary kidney disease and in baseline GFR rather than by a direct effect of sex on progression.

The purpose of this research is to analyze the reliability of diesel engine as driver for fire water pump. To determine the reliability level of the diesel engine, this research will apply counting process so that the rate of failure of the diesel engine can be known. The data used as basis for calculation is failure data gained from maintenance work order databases from 2012 to 2017. The data obtained will be processed using counting process method to produce mathematical modeling to predict the amount of failure to diesel engines in the future. From 4 diesel engines, only 3 parametric failure rate (l) that could be generated,  for 33-GE-5A,  for 33-GE-5B, and  for 33-GE-5C, since 33-GE-5D was severely damaged in September 2015.   The mathematical modeling will be verified using the Pearson's Chi-squared Test method to ensure the validity of the mathematical model can be guaranteed. The result of the goodness of fit test shows that only parametric failure rate (l) for 33-GE-5B and 33-GE-5C that could be accepted. The outcome mathematical model will be used to predict future behavior and failure of the unit so effective and efficient maintenance strategy for 33-GE-5B and 33-GE-5C could be applied
