During the oil production process, sucker rods are subjected to cyclic alternating load. After a certain number of cycles, a sucker rod can experience fatigue failure. The number of cycles is called fatigue life (N), and the accurate relationship between maximum stress (S) and fatigue life (N) under a certain reliability (P), namely the P-S-N curve, is an important basis for the reliability analysis and fatigue life prediction of sucker rods. The Basquin model, based on log-normal distribution, is widely used for fitting the P-S-N curves of sucker rods. Due to the limitation of this model, it is difficult to extrapolate the conclusion obtained from a finite fatigue region to the high-cycle or ultra-high-cycle fatigue region, which makes it impossible to estimate the fatigue limit of the sucker rod. Compared to the log-normal distribution, Weibull distribution causes the sucker rod to have a minimum safety life, namely the safety life at 100% survival rate, which complies with the fatigue characteristics of the sucker rod and is more in line with the actual situation. In this study, the fatigue data for ultra-high-strength HL and HY grade sucker rods were obtained through experimental fatigue tests. A new fatigue life model was established and the P-S-N curves of two types of ultra-high strength sucker rods were obtained. For HL- and HY-type ultra-high strength sucker rods, the average error between the fitting result and fatigue test value is 1.25% and 4.39%, respectively. Compared to the S-N curve fitting result obtained from the Basquin model commonly used for sucker rods, the new model based on three-parameter Weibull distribution provides better fitting precision and can estimate fatigue limit more accurately, so this model is more suitable for estimating fatigue life and can better guide the design of ultra-high strength sucker rod strings.

The article is devoted to the diagnostics of the well pumping equipment operation using wells production viscosity measurement results obtained by the developed field device VNP 1-4, 0-90. The method for making measurements with a field oil viscometer was developed in accordance with the provisions of GOST R 8.563, GOST R ISO 5725-2. It has gained certification and entered the State Register of the Russian Federation. On the basis of preliminary laboratory studies of oils viscosity from the group of fields of LLC UK «Sheshmaoil», a formula was obtained for the dependence of oil emulsions viscosity on temperature and the content of formation water in them. Viscosity measurements obtained with the developed device in field conditions have shown the applicability of the method for calculating the watered oil viscosity.The application of the results of measuring the watered oil viscosity at the wellhead allows diagnosing the downhole sucker rod pump unit operation based on the construction of a dynamic model of its operation. During oil fields operation, gas is extracted along with oil. In this article it is suggested to use jet pumps for utilization of the associated oil gas, burning of which causes environmental degradation and poses a potential threat to the human body. In order to determine the possibility of simultaneous application of a sucker-rod pump, which is driven by a rocking machine, and a jet pump (ejector) in the oil well, it is necessary to estimate the distribution of pressure along the borehole from the bottomhole to the mouth for two cases: when the well is operated only be the sucker-rod pump and while additional installation of the oil-gas jet pump above its dynamic level. For this purpose, commonly known methods of Poettman-Carpenter and Baksendel were used. In addition, the equations of high-pressure and low-pressure oil-gas jet pumps were obtained for the case, when the working stream of the jet pump is a gas-oil production mixture and the injected stream is a gas from the annulus of the well. The values which are included in the resulting equations are interrelated and can only be found in a certain sequence. Therefore, a special methodology has been developed for the practical usage of these equations in order to calculate the working parameters of a jet pump based on the given independent working parameters of the oil well. Using this methodology, which was implemented in computer programs, many operating parameters were calculated both for the well and for the jet pump itself (pressures, densities of working, injected and mixed flows, flow velocities and other parameters in control sections). According to the results of calculations, graphs were built that indicate a number of regularities during the oil well operation with such a jet pump. The main result of the performed research is a recommendation list on the choice of the oil-gas jet pump location inside the selected oil well and generalization of the principles for choosing the perfect location of such ejectors for other wells. The novelty of the proposed study lays in a systematic approach to rod pump and our patented ejector pump operation in the oil and chrome plating of pump parts. The result of scientific research is a sound method of determining the rational location of the ejector in the oil well and the calculation of its geometry, which will provide a complete selection of petroleum gas released into the annulus of the oil well. To ensure reliable operation of jet and plunger pumps in oil wells, it is proposed to use reinforcement of parts (bushings, plungers, rods, etc.) by electrochemical chromium plating in a flowing electrolyte. This has significantly increased the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the operational surfaces of these parts and, accordingly, the service life of the pumps. Such measures will contribute to oil production intensification from wells and improve the environmental condition of oil fields.

The paper presents an analytical solution to the problem of optimal dynamic balancing of the six-link converting mechanism of the sucker-rod pumping unit. This problem is solved numerically using a computer model of dynamics, namely by selecting the value of the correction factor k. Here we will consider an analytical method for solving this problem, that is, we find the location of the counterweight on the third link of the six-link converting mechanism for balancing. To solve the problem, we use the principle of possible displacement and write an equation where we express the torque through the unknown parameter of the counterweight. Further, such a value of the unknown parameter is found, at which the minimum of the root-mean-square value of torque M is reached. From the condition of the minimum of the function, we obtain an equation for determining the location of the counterweight. Thus, we obtain an analytical solution to the problem of optimal dynamic balancing of the six-link converting mechanism of the sucker-rod pumping drive in various settings.  According to the results, it was found that with the combined balancing method, the value of the maximum torque M and the value of the maximum power are reduced by 20 % than when the counterweight is placed on the third link of the converting mechanism, as well as when the value of the maximum torque is determined through the correction factor k. In practice, balancing is carried out empirically by comparing two peaks of torque M on the crank shaft per cycle of the mechanism movement. Solving the analytical problem, we determine the exact location of the counterweight.

Abstract This paper outlines a concept for monitoring performance of artificial lift performance such as electrical submersible pump (ESP), hydraulic pumping unit (HPU), sucker rod pump (SRP) and progressive cavity pump (PCP), for a large number of wells. The objective is to generate simplified monitoring performance of artificial lift with a huge number of wells on one page by creating quadrant mapping consisting of two coordinates with x axis representing pump efficiency and y axis showing pump submergence. We made a four-quadrant limit by pump efficiency (50%) and submergence (200 m). Optimum wells will show on range pump efficiency above 50% and submergence below 200 m, and 3 other quadrants are classified as artificial lift problems, well potential and sizing/design problems. By using the quadrant mapping concept, we can generate performance of artificial lift for 1500++ wells in one page, and this mapping consists of four quadrants (quadrant 1, quadrant 2, quadrant 3 and quadrant 4), quadrant 1 (Submergence above 200 meter and lifting efficiency below 50%) showing wells which have artificial lift problem, quadrant 2 (Submergence is above 200 meters and efficiency is above 50%) showing well which have potential to increased production, quadrant 3 (Submergence is below 200 meters and efficiency is above 50%) showing the optimum wells operation and quadrant 4 (Submergence is below 200 meters and efficiency is below 50%) showing the wells which required to re-sizing/re-design artificial lift. This quadrant mapping can be shown to Engineers, manager's and shareholder to show overall performance and classification detailed problems to create a troubleshooting, optimization program to increased oil production, run life artificial and result in better production performance. This mapping also helps petroleum engineers to get a better field view and create priorities and program optimization based on the quadrant mapping result and classification.

Abstract The problem of measuring the flow rate of wells with low production rates is relevant for many oil fields. Conventional flow meters are not suitable for such cases, and installing an additional flow meter for each well is impractical. At the same time, wells with sucker-rod pumping units (the majority of wells) are outfitted with dynamographs for continuous diagnostics of the pumping equipment state. Dynamograms allow determining the theoretical flow rate of the well easily, however, a mathematical model is required to estimate the actual flow rate. For the correction of flow rate obtained from dynamograms, the authors of this study propose using models based on regression equations that link the calculated valueswith the measurements made by a reference instrument. The results of the experiments have confirmed the eligibility of this approach.
