Conformally Killing fields play an important role in the theory of Ricci solitons and also generate an important class of locally conformally homogeneous (pseudo) Riemannian manifolds. In the Riemannian case, V. V. Slavsky and E.D. Rodionov proved that such spaces are either conformally flat or conformally equivalent to locally homogeneous Riemannian manifolds. In the pseudo-Riemannian case, the question of their structure remains open. Pseudo-Riemannian symmetric spaces of order k, where k 2, play an important role in research in pseudo-Riemannian geometry. Currently, they have been investigated in cases k=2,3 by D.V. Alekseevsky, A.S. Galaev and others. For arbitrary k, non-trivial examples of such spaces are known: generalized Kachen - Wallach manifolds. In the case of small dimensions, these spaces and Killing vector fields on them were studied by D.N. Oskorbin, E.D. Rodionov, and I.V. Ernst with the helpof systems of computer mathematics. In this paper, using the Sagemath SCM, we investigate conformally Killing vector fields on five-dimensional indecomposable 2- symmetric Lorentzian manifolds, and construct an algorithm for their computation.

AbstractIn this paper we prove a result which can be regarded as a sub-Riemannian version of de Rham decomposition theorem. More precisely, suppose that (M, H, g) is a contact and oriented sub-Riemannian manifold such that the Reeb vector field $$\xi $$ ξ is an infinitesimal isometry. Under such assumptions there exists a unique metric and torsion-free connection on H. Suppose that there exists a point $$q\in M$$ q ∈ M such that the holonomy group $$\Psi (q)$$ Ψ ( q ) acts reducibly on H(q) yielding a decomposition $$H(q) = H_1(q)\oplus \cdots \oplus H_m(q)$$ H ( q ) = H 1 ( q ) ⊕ ⋯ ⊕ H m ( q ) into $$\Psi (q)$$ Ψ ( q ) -irreducible factors. Using parallel transport we obtain the decomposition $$H = H_1\oplus \cdots \oplus H_m$$ H = H 1 ⊕ ⋯ ⊕ H m of H into sub-distributions $$H_i$$ H i . Unlike the Riemannian case, the distributions $$H_i$$ H i are not integrable, however they induce integrable distributions $$\Delta _i$$ Δ i on $$M/\xi $$ M / ξ , which is locally a smooth manifold. As a result, every point in M has a neighborhood U such that $$T(U/\xi )=\Delta _1\oplus \cdots \oplus \Delta _m$$ T ( U / ξ ) = Δ 1 ⊕ ⋯ ⊕ Δ m , and the latter decomposition of $$T(U/\xi )$$ T ( U / ξ ) induces the decomposition of $$U/\xi $$ U / ξ into the product of Riemannian manifolds. One can restate this as follows: every contact sub-Riemannian manifold whose holonomy group acts reducibly has, at least locally, the structure of a fiber bundle over a product of Riemannian manifolds. We also give a version of the theorem for indefinite metrics.

Metric connections with vector torsion, or semisymmetric connections, were first discovered by E. Cartan. They are a natural generalization of the Levi-Civita connection. The properties of such connections and the basic tensor fields were investigated by I. Agrikola, K. Yano, and other mathematicians. Ricci solitons are the solution to the Ricci flow and a natural generalization of Einstein's metrics. In the general case, they were investigated by many mathematicians, which was reflected in the reviews by H.-D. Cao, R.M. Aroyo — R. Lafuente. This question is best studied in the case of trivial Ricci solitons, or Einstein metrics, as well as the homogeneous Riemannian case. This paper investigates semisymmetric connections on three-dimensional Lie groups with the metric of an invariant Ricci soliton. A classification of these connections on three-dimensional non-unimodularLie groups with the left-invariant Riemannian metric of the Ricci soliton is obtained. It is proved that there are nontrivial invariant semisymmetric connections in this case. In addition, it is shown that there are nontrivial invariant Ricci solitons.

UDC 514 We give the full classification of left-invariant metrics of an arbitrary signature on the Lie group corresponding to the real hyperbolic space. We show that all metrics have constant sectional curvature and that they are geodesically complete only in the Riemannian case.

Abstract In this paper we first classify left-invariant generalized Ricci solitons on four-dimensional hypercomplex Lie groups equipped with three families of left-invariant Lorentzian metrics. Then, on these Lorentzian spaces, we explicitly calculate the energy of an arbitrary left-invariant vector field X and determine the exact form of all left-invariant unit time-like vector fields which are spatially harmonic. Furthermore, we give a complete and explicit description of all homogeneous structures on these spaces in both Riemannian and Lorentzian cases and determine some of their types. The existence of Einstein four-dimensional hypercomplex Lorentzian Lie groups is proved and it is shown that although the results concerning Einstein-like metrics, conformally flatness and some equations in the Riemannian case are much richer than their Lorentzian analogues, in the Lorentzian case, there exist some new critical points of energy functionals, homogeneous structures and geodesic vectors which do not exist in the Riemannian case.

We prove existence of harmonic coordinates for the nonlinear Laplacian of a Finsler manifold and apply them in a proof of the Myers–Steenrod theorem for Finsler manifolds. Different from the Riemannian case, these coordinates are not suitable for studying optimal regularity of the fundamental tensor, nevertheless, we obtain some partial results in this direction when the Finsler metric is Berwald.

There is one-to-one correspondence between contact semi-Riemannian structures ( η , ξ , φ , g ) and non-degenerate almost CR structures ( H , ϑ , J ) . In general, a non-degenerate almost CR structure is not a CR structure, that is, in general the integrability condition for H 1 , 0 : = X - i J X , X ∈ H is not satisfied. In this paper we give a survey on some known results, with the addition of some new results, on the geometry of contact semi-Riemannian manifolds, also in the context of the geometry of Levi non-degenerate almost CR manifolds of hypersurface type, emphasizing similarities and differences with respect to the Riemannian case.

The projective curvature tensor is an invariant under geodesic preserving transformations on semi-Riemannian manifolds. It possesses different geometric properties than other generalized curvature tensors. The main object of the present paper is to study some semisymmetric type and pseudosymmetric type curvature restricted geometric structures due to projective curvature tensor. The reduced pseudosymmetric type structures for various Walker type conditions are deduced and the existence of Venzi space is ensured. It is shown that the geometric structures formed by imposing projective operator on a (0,4)-tensor is different from that for the corresponding (1,3)-tensor. Characterization of various semisymmetric type and pseudosymmetric type curvature restricted geometric structures due to projective curvature tensor are obtained on semi-Riemannian manifolds, and it is shown that some of them reduce to Einstein manifolds for the Riemannian case. Finally, to support our theorems, four suitable examples are presented.

We relate some constructions of stochastic analysis to differential geometry, via random walk approximations. We consider walks on both Riemannian and sub-Riemannian manifolds in which the steps consist of travel along either geodesics or integral curves associated to orthonormal frames, and we give particular attention to walks where the choice of step is influenced by a volume on the manifold. A primary motivation is to explore how one can pass, in the parabolic scaling limit, from geodesics, orthonormal frames, and/or volumes to diffusions, and hence their infinitesimal generators, on sub-Riemannian manifolds, which is interesting in light of the fact that there is no completely canonical notion of sub-Laplacian on a general sub-Riemannian manifold. However, even in the Riemannian case, this random walk approach illuminates the geometric significance of Ito and Stratonovich stochastic differential equations as well as the role played by the volume.
