A force-sensitive structure of an InAs Quantum Dot (QD) embedded in a high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) is presented in this paper. The size of an InAs QD is about 30 nm prepared by the S-K growth mode, and the force-sensitive structure is fabricated by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE). The force-sensitivity characteristic of the QD HEMT is studied by the electrical and mechanical properties. The electrical characteristics show that the InAs QD-HEMT has linear, cut-off, and saturation operating states, and produces different output currents under different gate voltages, which shows that the structure is reasonable. Furthermore, the results of the output characteristics under different pressure show that the output voltage of the QD-HEMT decreases with the increase in pressure, which indicates that the InAs QD-HEMT has a vital mechanical–electrical coupling characteristic. The output voltage of the InAs QD-HEMT in the range of 0–100 kPa shows that the sensitivity was 1.09 mV/kPa.

Once a train breaks down on a busy railway line, it will affect the whole traffic network. However, when a rescue locomotive is hooked up to the broken train for towing it to the next station, it is common that coupling dislocation occurs, which results in damages to couplers and the driver’s cab. To ensure the safety of the trains during the coupling, it becomes crucial to determine whether they can be linked safely and automatically under different line conditions. In this paper, position and pose of the rescue locomotive and the broken train on the line are calculated by geometric analytical calculation method, which determines the position relation of their couplers. Then a so-called “coupling characteristic triangle” was proposed to determine whether trains can be safely and automatically linked on the railway line. The triangles are constructed by the peak points of the couplers head of the front vehicle and the rear one and border lines of secure coupling area on the couplers. By judging the shape of the triangle, it can directly judge whether their couplers can be connected successfully. The method has been applied to check the safety of the trains during coupling on the Nanchang urban railway Line 4. The results show that the maximum swing angle of the coupler reaches 17.3957° in the straight–curve section with a radius of 325 m. At this time, coupling is most difficult, and trains need to be connected manually through the tractor; all the calculation results are verified in the actual line. By comparing different calculation methods for judging coupling safety, it is shown that the method proposed in this paper is accurate, efficient, and users can judge coupling safety more intuitively.

To solve the limitation of vibration synchronization, this paper investigates the dynamics of a vibration system driven by three homodromy eccentric rotors (ERs) using control synchronization. According to the synchronous condition and the stability condition, the changes of the phase differences of the three-ERs system and the two-third ERs system are obtained. Based on the electromechanical mathematic model of the vibration system and the master-slave control strategy, the synchronous target that three ERs achieve the same phase motion is converted into velocity and phase tracking of ERs. Considering the coupling characteristic of the self-adjusting of the system in the state of vibration synchronization, the velocity and phase controllers are designed by employing discrete-time sliding mode control. An experimental system for control synchronization is designed, including hardware composition and software programming. For the feedback signal used to match control targets, a method of calculating velocity and the phase difference is proposed from engineering. Recording the rotational velocities, phase differences, and system response, three group experiments with different control schemes are achieved. According to the experimental data, the coupling characteristic of the vibration system adopting control synchronization is analyzed, which can provide the basis for designing vibration machines using control synchronization.
