Abstract To investigate applicability of radiation-hard indium–gallium–phosphide (InGaP) and copper–indium–gallium–sulfide–selenide (CIGS) solar cells to dosimeter devices without any modification, we irradiated high-energy He+ ions, which were simulated α-ray particles, to an InGaP and a CIGS solar cell. We found that both types of solar cells have sufficient resistance to He+ ions. By using displacement damage dose (DDD) analysis, the obtained He+ ion-induced degradation trends were compared with those induced by high-energy electrons, and we found that the degradation trends due to He+-ions, electrons, and protons aligned on the same curve when we plotted the data as a function of a modified DDD conversion equation, which originally was applied to space solar cells. The obtained DDD formulas enable us to predict the device lifetime or correction of an output signal for degradation when such solar cells are employed as a dosimeter.

Abstract Photovoltaic cell is a key part of solar power generation system, and whether its photoelectric conversion is sufficient is also called the maximum power point tracking problem, that is, photovoltaic cell MPPT. Different from the traditional MPPT control algorithm, this paper models and analyzes the output characteristics of solar cell. on this basis, proposes a fuzzy control algorithm based on duty cycle disturbance, and simulates it with MATLAB. The result shows the algorithm can well take into account the tracking speed and control accuracy when the external environment change.

This article is dedicated to the development of a software model with a Graphical User Interface (GUI) to simulate the process of ensuring information and cyber security of information systems (IS) of Critical Infrastructure objects (CI) based on the analytical model developed by the author of this article. The specified software model with a GUI makes it possible, using the controls located on the main panel, to set the input parameters of the simulated object and observe its output characteristics using appropriate visualization elements such as special windows for displaying calculated numerical values of the main characteristics of the systems under study.

Abstract In this article, an artificial neural networks (ANN) based maximum power point tracking controller (MPPT) was developed to improve the performance of the FL-M-160W solar panel under unstable environmental conditions. To develop and configure the neural controller, a database resulting from experimental tests was built for the training of the proposed model. Then the model was tested and validated under the Matlab / Simulink environment. The optimum voltage obtained at the output of the neural controller is compared to the voltage of the photovoltaic generator and the error is used to modify the duty cycle of the DC-DC boost converter. It is shown after simulations that unlike conventional controllers which are very slow, the neural MPPT controller offers more stable, more accurate output characteristics with very low response time and very low oscillations around the operating point both in transient and steady state, even under varying environmental conditions.

Abstract Fiber oscillators have the potential for achieving high power, high beam quality lasers with simple and compact structure, of which the fusion splicing point is an important aspect to the laser output characteristics. A model taking into account the axial offset of the splicing point and spatial mode competition has been proposed to analyze the mode interaction of a large mode area fiber based oscillator. The calculated results show that the axial offset of the output side fusion point has the main influence on the laser output beam quality, but the axial offset would not obviously reduce the optical efficiency, especially when the value is smaller than 2 μm. The influence of cavity parameters on the laser output characteristics under the existence of splicing point with axial offset has also been discussed. This model can provide a method for analyzing the mode dynamic that may be helpful for understanding the mode interactions in fiber oscillators.

Electro discharge machining (EDM) is an unconventional machining process that uses spark energy to remove material from the workpiece. EDM process is extensively being used in die/mould making industries, automobile industry, aerospace industry etc. for generating complex and intricate shape on hard material. Numbers of research works have been carried out using EDM process in order to improve the performance. Further, different variant of EDM process like dry EDM, orbital EDM, powder mixed EDM, ultrasonic assisted EDM and rotary EDM etc. have also been studied. Rotary EDM process is very promising process that helps to improve surface finish, overcut as well as out of roundness. In the present paper, a extensive review has been presented on rotary EDM process. Significance of several input parameters has been observed on output characteristics like overcut and out of roundness.

When solving the main problems of design and control of the trawl complex, characterizing: mechanical; hydrodynamic; soil-dynamic; tribological; electrodynamic; thermodynamic; light; acoustic and optical processes, it becomes necessary to provide similarity criteria for the corresponding processes, to perform self-similarity to reduce the parameters that affect the output characteristics of the trawl complex. This article discusses the criteria for the multiphysical similarity of trawl complexes (bottom and midwater). The criteria for the multiphysical similarity of the trawl complex are determined using the theory of the multiphysical similarity of the trawl complex. As a result, the criteria of the multiphysical similarity of the trawl complex were theoretically substantiated, on the basis of which the computer program «Criteria for the multiphysical similarity of fishing processes» was developed.

We report the characteristics of a diode-end-pumped, high-repetition-rate, acoustic-optic (AO) Q-switched Tm:YLF laser operating from 5 kHz to 10 kHz. In the continuous-wave (CW) regime, a maximum average output power of 8.5 W was obtained with a slope efficiency of 30.7%. Under the AO Q-switching regime, a maximum output power of 7.32 W was obtained at a repetition frequency of 5 kHz with a pulse width of 68 ns and a pulse energy of 1.4 mJ, corresponding to a peak power of 21.5 kW. A time-dependent rate equation model is introduced to theoretically analyze the results obtained in the experiment, in which the cross-relaxation phenomenon, upconversion losses and ground-state depletion are taken into account. Additionally, the evolution processes of population inversion density and intracavity photon number density with time are also presented. The theoretical results well predict the dependence of laser output characteristics of Tm:YLF crystal on the incident pump powers.
