The features of the modeling of degradation faults of the primary measurers of monitoring systems and networks based on their basis are considered. An integrated approach to modeling invited to perform on the basis of the use and development of analytical relations obtained for queuing systems. For this purpose it has been proposed a new functional logic component – degradator, which is the minimum structural unit of the simulation. The results of computational experiments for the purpose of estimating the degree of influence the degradation rate parameters on the system performance are given in the paper.

Based on the basic theory of 3D expression of geographic elements and the concept, research framework and logic component of 3D map, the dynamic extension of Bergins visual variables in 3D visualization and the designing of 3D cartographic symbol are studied, to systematically analyze the 3D symbolic expression of geographic elements considering the terrain at different scales in 3D space by referring to the traditional cartographic expression theories and combining the characteristics of 3D environment. Then, the levels of detail in 3D point-shaped symbols and the deal of the relationship between point-shaped symbols and terrain model or other elements are discussed in the process of studying expression of point-shaped geographic elements in 3D space. Besides, the line-shaped elements are categorized into three types of elements, which are single-river, boundary and road, to study their symbolized expression based on terrain model in 3D environment respectively, and the multiple expression approach of the road at different scales is discussed emphatically in this part. Finally, the 3D expression of vegetation, soil and water treated as area elements is discussed respectively, according to geographic meaning and 3D modeling approaches of cartographic elements.

Laterally actuated polycrystalline silicon nanoelectromechanical (NEM) relays with enhanced electrical properties are presented. Due to surface oxidation of polysilicon in room ambient conditions, the relays have a high contact resistance (> 1 GΩ) that requires high drain bias (3-5 V) to break through. The addition of a platinum sidewall coating reduces the on-resistance and the required drain bias to as low as 3 kΩ and 0.1 V, respectively. The platinum coating's stability is demonstrated by two tests: first, a contact-and-hold test where the relay passes current (~1μA) for up to 155 min and, second, a hot cycling test where the relay survives for over 108cycles . The NEMS relays are simulated using finite-element analysis, and the models are verified against experimental tests. Furthermore, the relays are configured and tested as a 2 : 1 multiplexer to show their potential as a digital logic component.

Web portal applications that dynamically generate results in response to user requests are more popular than ever. Such portal applications usually consist of a business logic component and a very large database, or databases that hold the portal’s content. Despite efforts to speed up response generation, ever-rising user demand means that replication of a portal’s logic and database will be needed at some point as other methods to keep up with demand (faster databases and content caching for example) have limits.
