Rejecting the prior essentialist assumptions connected with the classical notions of the sacred, this dissertation argues for the redefinition of this concept and its use as an analytical tool. Religion, too, should no longer be held as a privileged space for the emergence of the sacred. The sacred is held not to be a numinous phenomenon experienced privately, a universal term, or of an unchangeable structure. Instead, it is a relative and temporary category constructed through certain cultural practices, which helps us disclose the concepts of meaning, identity and community. Such a redefined notion can be applied when speaking about contemporary culture and literature. This dissertation presents Russian writer Victor Pelevin as a case study, demonstrating the possibility to speak of the sacred in the seemingly secular post-Soviet milieu. It provides insights into the role of the sacred in his works and introduces new possible approaches towards his writings and his position in Russian literature. Moreover, the analysis of Pelevin’s works shows that this redefined understanding of the sacred is productive not only in his writings, but also in general in the studies of sacrality in the postmodern world, making this post-Soviet sacred a more extensive concept, applicable in a wide variety of contexts.

The article is devoted to the analysis of theoretical-methodological problems of isolation of non-claim cases’ litigation into the separate type of litigation. Classic types of litigation are listed, it is mentioned that the basic litigation in all meanings is claim litigation, its main feature is the dispute about law. In contrast beginning from the Roman law there are legal cases that have undisputable character. The main terms for the naming of such cases are searched: special litigation, protective litigation, voluntary jurisdiction. The author came to the conclusion that no one of them can be an universal term adequately reflecting the essence of this type of cases. The term “non-claim cases’ litigation” is suggested as the most suitable option. The study also notes that this approach can be taken into account by legislative bodies when making changes to procedural legislation, including in connection with the prospect of identifying the appropriate type in administrative proceedings. In addition, the study presents a retrospective analysis of individual institutions of civil procedural law, in a broad sense, and procedural thought.

The investigation of teacher’s perfectionism is quite relevant due to the Ukrainian integration of higher education into the European educational space and the conversion to a new modernized model of higher education. These factors determine the desire to be better and promotes perfectionism. In the literature there is any generally accepted conceptual basis of perfectionism and therefore there is any distinct, universal term. Using the authors’ questionnaire, which included ending incomplete sentences and content analysis of the obtained results, the authors divide the respondents' answers into several groups: «Striving for ideal and perfection», «Belief that an ideal can and should be achieved», «The desire to perform every action perfectly», «The belief that the imperfect result of work cannot be acceptable», «Harmful desire for perfection», «The need of self-improvement», «A person’s tendency to set high standards for others and for itself», «Order and discipline».

Contesting the concept of Woman: Perspectives from conceptual history. The main argument of this article is that the concept of kvinde (woman) was redefined in the 19th century in Denmark, and that it can be studied alongside other central concepts. Kvinde re-entered the Danish vocabulary as a universal term for woman not bound to social or marital status. Early romanticists such as Adam Oehlenschläger (1779-1850) and N.F.S. Grundtvig (1783-1872) used and disseminated sagas and myths from Old Norse mythology to re-conceptualize the concept of kvinde in romantic poetry. Gradually the concept of kvinde entered other spheres of society. The article seeks to present a framework for further studies, not only in the debates and themes proposed here, but also in relation to other gendered discussions of the 19th century. The article is a preliminary attempt to establish the concept of kvinde in a conceptual framework, arguing that the concept needs to be studied in more depth as central to the discussions of the 19th century

Cavernous rock decay processes represent a global phenomenon, ubiquitous to all environments, with the viewable-in-landscape form usually being the final descriptor (e.g. “alveoli”), sometimes alluding to the specific decay process (e.g. “pitting”), other times not (e.g. “honeycombing”). Yet, definitive terminology remains inconsistent, usually owing to variability in dimension, morphometry, distribution, and/or academic lineage. This lack of an established lexicon limits scientific collaboration and can generate scientific bias. With no official consensus on appropriate distinctions, researchers and scientists must either be familiar with all the possible terminology, or know the apparent distinction between “forms”—which can seem arbitrary and, even more frustrating, often differs from researcher to researcher, scientist to scientist. This article reviews the historical and contemporary progression of scientific inquiry into this decay—and, arguably, erosional—feature to identify lexical inconsistencies and promote a singular unifying term for future scholars. Ultimately, the authors support using “tafoni” (singular: “tafone”) as the non-scalar universal term—the form created by numerous processes involved in cavernous decay features—and strongly suggest researchers adopt the same vernacular in order to promote collaboration.
