Pemberian Pakan Hijauan Lokal yang Disuplementasi Indigofera dan Probiotik terhadap Total Leukosit dan Diferensial Leukosit Kambing Boerka

Pemberian pakan yang berbeda dapat menyebabkan perbedaan kondisi fisiologis. Apabila tubuh ternak mengalami perubahan fisiologi, maka dapat berpengaruh pada gambaran darah. Pemeriksaan darah lengkap dilakukan untuk mengetahui status kesehatan hewan, terutama pemeriksaan leukosit yang digunakan untuk penunjang diagnosis terhadap suatu penyakit dan mengetahui adanya respons tubuh terhadap suatu penyakit infeksi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui profil leukosit kambing boerka yang diberi pakan hijauan lokal dan Indigofera serta probiotik Sampel yang digunakan adalah sampel darah dari 24 ekor kambing boerka betina. Perlakuan yang diberikan adalah pemberian pakan hijauan sebagai kontrol (P0), pakan hijauan yang diimbuhi Indigofera (P1) dan pakan hijauan yang diimbuhi Indigofera dan Bio-CAS (P2). Pengambilan darah dilakukan pada vena jugularis setelah diberi perlakuan pakan selama enam bulan. Darah dimasukkan ke dalam tabung yang berisi antikoagulan Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid (EDTA). Pemeriksaan gambaran total dan diferensial sel darah putih secara otomatis menggunakan Hematology Analyzer. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian pakan hijauan lokal yang disuplementasi Indigofera dan probiotik tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap nilai total leukosit dan diferensial leukosit kambing boerka. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian pakan hijauan lokal yang disuplementasi indigofera dan probiotik aman diberikan pada kambing boerka.

Mechanism of Klebsiella pneumoniae resistance to carbapenem antibiotics

Purpose: To investigate the mechanism of action of Klebsiella pneumoniae (Kpn) resistance to carbapenem. Methods: The susceptibility of six Klebsiella pneumoniae strains to antibiotics was determined using KB assay. Six isolated strains which were resistant to carbapenem were identified and collected using modified Hodge test. The phenotypes of metal enzyme were evaluated by ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) disk diffusion method. The genes for beta-lactamases, including KPC gene, were examined. Results: The six carbapenem-resistant strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae were resistant to imipenem, meropenem and aztreonam, but were sensitive to amikacin, fosfomycin, minocycline, and polymyxin. The six pathogens did not produce metal enzyme, but they produced carbapenemases. Moreover, the six strains partially carried blaTEM or blaSHV gene, but all had blaKPC-2 gene. Conclusion: These results suggest that the pathogens that contain blaKPC-2 gene may be involved in the mechanism of Klebsiella pneumoniae (Kpn) resistance to carbapenem.

PROFILES OF TOTAL LEUCOCYTES AND NETROPHILES LYMPHOCYTES RATIO IN PREGNANT ETAWAH CROSSBRED GOATS

This research aimed to determine the profiles of total leukocytes and neutrophil -lymphocyte ratio (N/L) in pregnant etawah crossbreed goats. Six etawah crossbreed goats around 3-6 years old and body weight around 30-50 kg were used in this study. Blood samples were taken from jugulars vein in non pregnant (K), and at gestational age 12, 14, 16 and 18 weeks. Blood is inserted into a tube that contains EDTA (Ethylene Diamine Tetraacetic Acid) anticoagulant to obtain whole blood. Whole blood were analyzed to total leukocyte cells and leukocyte types. The results showed that total leukocytes profiles tend to increase during pregnancy. Lymphocytes stable until 16 weeks of pregnancy and tends to decrease at the end of pregnancy. The N/L ratio increase at the end of pregnancy, this condition indicates an increase in the number of neutrophils accompanied by decreased lymphocyte cells and can be found in etawah crossbreed at 18 weeks of gestation.
