This paper describes the use of biocatalytic technologies in construction and housing and communal services. Special attention is paid to the use of microbiological processes for the modification of soil bases, concretes and building mortars. The problems and directions of future research in this area are considered.

A novel C1qDC bivalve protein from the bivalve Modiolus kurilensis (MkC1qDC-1) was identified, isolated and characterized. MkC1qDC-1 demonstrated the inhibition of HeLa cell proliferation and recognition of some cancer cell phenotypes in comparative analysis on several cell lines, suggesting biomedical potential of this protein.

Enriched cultures of olfactory ensheathing cells and neural stem/progenitor cells were obtained according to our developed protocols from the olfactory mucosa of rat and human. It has been shown that only transplantation of human and rat olfactory ensheathing cells leads to a significant decrease in the size of cysts, as well as their complete disappearance in some animals.

The characteristics of various miRNA binding sites in the mRNAs of the MYB transcription factor genes of Arabidopsis thaliana, Glycine max and Vitis vinifera have been established. The most conserved miRNA binding sites were the binding sites of the miR828 family.

Biocatalytic processes for the synthesis of valuable products, such as different esters for various purposes, have been studied using heterogeneous biocatalysts prepared by immobilizing the recombinant lipase rPichia/lip on mesoporous silica (SiO2) and macroporous carbon aerogel (MCA). It was found that the functional properties of immobilized lipase, such as enzymatic activity, specificity toward pair of substrates (acid and alcohol), the molecules of which differ in the number of carbon atoms (C), as well as operational stability, depended on the method of adsorptive immobilization, the chemical nature of the support, and polarity of the organic solvent, i.e. logP. The functional properties of rPichia/lip have been shown to be modulated by the selection of an organic solvent and support for lipase immobilization.

The possibility of using HA- and FLAG–tags embedded into CD52 surface protein for magnetic separation of transduced cells in vitro was investigated. The efficiency of selection of transfected cell lines, both with single and binary tags, was shown to exceed 85%. Thus, surface markers on the basis of CD52 protein with integrated HA- and FLAG-tags are applicable for cell selection by the MACS method.
