Once the recent studies regarding the use of the Internet in higher education are examined, it could be clearly seen that "OpenCourseWare" comprises an important research topic. “OpenCourseWare” is defined as opening the course materials such as lecture notes, presentations, project drafts, prepared by scholars themselves, to everyone without expecting any return over the Internet. "OpenCourseWare" was first commenced in the United States at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2001. The fact that “OpenCourseWare” is increasing and becoming common relatively more gradually in our country, despite increasing applications around the world, comprises the starting point for this study. The study includes pre-test-post test control group experimental design and the study group involves the senior students at the Graphics Department of Dumlupinar University Faculty of Fine Arts. There are 20 students in the experimental group and 19 students in the control group. 49% of theese students are female and 51% are male. The course materials prepared for the course “Graphic Production Techniques”, which was taught in the fall semester of 2010-2011 academic year have been published over the website prepared by the researcher (www.masaustuyayincilikdersi.com) due to the absence of a website for open course materials of Dumlupınar University. Through the achievement test conducted at the end of the research, a significant difference was found in favour of the students in the experimental group, who made use of the open course ware. In this research, an evaluation was made of “study styles” within the framework of the Weinstein/Mayer learning strategies, which could be applied by students within their personal study periods of the Solfeggio by Emanuel Bach. In recent years, learning strategies have started to become widespread as an important area because they are a guide for students to form and evaluate their own learning situations. Therefore, the evaluation of piano training within musical instrument education will provide a valuable result. The aim of this study was for students to be aware of their own learning paths within their personal study processes and to be a guide at the point of forming ‘study styles’. To achieve this, technical analysis was made of the work, and as a result of this analysis, the work was separated into 5 technical motifs. The study styles produced by the researcher directed to main theme motif were grouped within the framework of Weinstein/Mayer learning strategies. As a result of the research, ‘study styles’ were presented as an option which could be selected by students in their personal piano practice periods according to their own learning status. These study styles can be applied to every work being studied. Keywords: Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach, Weinstein and Mayer, Piano, Learning Strategies, Study Styles

Corporate identity is a collection of communication strategies, philosophy, behavior and visual elements of a corporation. Graphic designer should not only think visually while designing corporate identity, but should also be aware of other features of the corporation. The significance of these features should be taught during the education they get to the graphic designer candidates. During the process of graphic design education, it is important for students to be able to design contemporary and original emblems and logos, to design corporate identity and to be conscious of introducing corporations in a contemporary identity. The aim of this study is to create a model proposal for redesigning a logo within the scope of graphic design education, in the light of the graphic design principles and in the awareness of the features of the corporate identity. In this context, the terms of redesigning the corporate identity design and logo design principles are explained and the methods of redesigning logos in the scope of the Corporate Identity Design course, which is included in the curriculum of Doğuş University, Department of Graphics, are clarified. As a result of the research, the examination of the application of these methods within the course is analyzed. Keywords: logo, corporate identity, graphic design, design education

Alfredo Piatti is accepted as one of the important composers of violoncello repertoire. Op. 25/ 12 Solo violoncello caprices, which Piatti composed and dedicated to famous violoncello composer and player Bernhard Cosmann in 1865, has a very important role in the violoncello literature. This research, which has been written with the aim of analyzing Paitti’s caprices both for their compositions and informativeness, is thought to be fruitful for students and academicians. These caprices include Detache, Legato, Spiccato, Arpeggiato, Ricochet, Martele, Staccato, Pizzacato and right-hand techniques, which are accepted as advanced techniques in playing violoncello and also they involve left-hand techniques such as thumb position, double stops, and flageolet. Identifying Piatti, who has a great contribution to 19th century violoncello literature and getting to know events, which shaped his music can make us understand his music better. Moreover, knowing about which techniques do the caprices with technical and musical richness include can enable us playing them.

A design education that implements the natural inspiration approach in design is an important influence on the training of environmental designers who are more sensitive to nature and have environmental awareness. For this reason, in this study, the pattern-oriented design process which is shaped by adopting the approach of nature inspiration in landscape architecture education is examined. The natural components form a composition in themselves, and these compositions consist of patterns. Analysis and understanding of natural patterns play a key role in directing designs inspired from nature. Within this context, the approach of utilizing inspiration from nature within the scope of "Environmental Design Project1" course of the 1st grade classes of Karadeniz Technical University, Landscape Architecture Department was seen as a subject to be considered in landscape architecture. This derste made up the material of working with models called "children's play and gaming activities". 4 students selected in the application section (model); research process (natural samples), and creative product (model), and the process of natural inspiration in design was examined in the context of the pattern. As a result, this design education, which implements the pattern inspiration approach, it has become easier for pupils to design their form, to determine concept-activity, and to achieve spatial fiction.
