In Poland, there is a noticeable deficit of knowledge about the mass Soviet women’s press. After all, it for decades shaped the views and attitudes of millions of Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian women and other residents of the Soviet Union. Such periodicals as “Robotnica”, “Włościanka”, “Kobieta Sowiecka”, being at the central level a part of a powerful propaganda machine, facilitated the Communist Party’s ‘piecemeal’ of women’s souls in the spirit of Marxist feminism. And its promoters, such as Nadezhda Krupska, Anna Ulyanova-Yelizarova, Inessa Armand, Aleksandra Kołłontaj and many others like them, so much that less known associates of Vladimir Lenin and his successors combined political and journalistic activity. The consequence of this situation was not only the instrumentalization of the women’s press politicized by the communist party, but also the limitation of its agency.

The story of the Amazons contained in the Historia adversus paganos of Orosius says nothing about the Amazons, but shows the mentality of the author of this work. Orosius believed in the existence of the kingdom of Amazons. He devoted a lot of space to the Amazons, because he saw them as relatives of the Goths. He wanted to show that the reality of his Christian’s times was no worse than the pagan’s past. Orosius summarized Epitome of Justin. Some names of queens of Amazons are different in Historia adversus paganus than in his source. In the case of Queen Sinope, it’s hard to say why.

The issue of ZofiaRomanowiczówna’s legacy, very important and little-known, enters the area of research both in the field of biographical, historiography and women studies. Zofia Romanowiczówna’s activity in many associations, in this case Teachers Association in Lviv and Society of Women Frugality, are not sufficiently researched. The activity she undertook can be found on the references located in Historical State Archives in Lviv and Stefanyk National Science Library. The analysis of the references of Romanowiczówna’s legacy enabled me to show the women associations in Lviv and involvement of this Lviv woman, which was deter mined by her huge patriotism and willingness to help, but also by desire to examine her involvement in the women associations in Lviv.

The press interview is one of more important journalistic genres and a source of knowledge about life in a given historical period. Research on press interviews makes it possible to determine matters relevant to the magazine’s addressees at a given time. The aim of the research was to reconstruct the media image of women’s life in 1989–1992 in the Polish women’s press. During the research procedure, attention was paid to: the dominant topics covered in the interviews, the picture of systemic transformation, the gender of interlocutors and their professional competences. The research covered 208 issues of the weekly Kobieta i Życie [Woman and Life] and 208 issues of the weekly Przyjaciółka [Best Friend]. The selection of magazines was dictated by their high circulation (over 500,000 copies). The interviews published in weekly magazines was categorized into the broadly understood social, political and economic sphere. In Kobietai Życie it was 42 interviews, in Przyjaciółka – 77. The qualitative analysis of the content allowed to group the topics of interviews into six categories: economy, politics, social assistance, education, healthcare and law.

The article presents the participation in parliamentary work of the co-founder and activist of the League of Women, MP of the National National Council, the Legislative Sejm and the Sejm of the first term of office Maria Jaszczukowa. The MP was the rapporteur for the abortion law adopted in 1956 and became its “media face”. Sejm speeches by Jaszczukowa also concerned issues in the field of family law, social matters, and professional activity of women. The solutions and legal regulations proposed by her from the parliamentary tribunal harmonized with the program of the Women’s League. The question of the real effectiveness and influence of the League’s deputies on the government’s policy at the time remains unanswered.

The aim of the article was to reconstruct the means of communication in Interwar Poland’s worldview press for women. The origins and development of such periodicals was determined by the decisions made by the Catholic Church, which wanted to gain more influence on Polish women. Catholic, National Catholic and National press declared their affiliation with the Catholic faith, informed about the state of the Church, presented the doctrine and deepen the National identity and unity. These periodicals were created by the Catholic women’s associations, including those with political aspirations. To achieve their goals, they were using archetypes of Polish Mother and Polish women as Catholics.
