Abstract Geophytes, the plants that form vegetative storage organs, are characterized by a dual reproduction system, in which vegetative and sexual propagation are tightly regulated to ensure fitness in harsh climatic conditions. Recent findings highlight the role of the PEBP (PHOSPHATIDYLETHANOLAMINE-BINDING PROTEIN) gene family in geophytes as major players in the molecular cascades underlying both types of reproduction. In this review, we briefly explain the life cycle and reproduction strategies of different geophytes and what is known about the physiological aspects related to these processes. Subsequently, an in-depth overview is provided of the molecular and genetic pathways driving these processes. In the evolution of plants, the PEBP gene family has expanded, followed by neo- and subfunctionalization. Careful characterization revealed that differential expression and differential protein complex formation provide the members of this gene family with unique functions, enabling them to mediate the crosstalk between the two reproductive events in geophytes in response to environmental and endogenous cues. Taking all these studies into account, we propose to regard the PEBPs as conductors of geophyte reproductive development.

The City

The purpose of the article is to identify the problems of Russian cities and urban-type settlements from the standpoint of their historical and economic development. Using the methodology of economic, statistical and retrospective analysis, it was revealed that along with the growth of large cities in recent years, there has been a tendency towards a reduction in small settlements, which is associated with a decrease in industrial production. The result of this is the active development of urban processes, leading to the concentration in large cities of the scientific, technical and intellectual and production potential of the regions, their transformation into self-sufficient centers for the development of territorial socio-economic locations. The result of the study is the substantiation of the need to create new methodological approaches to the development and placement of productive forces, planning of urban areas, solving problems of energy and resource supply of territories on the basis of achieving their ecological and economic efficiency. The concept of the decisive role of the resource-saving factor in the process of urbanization of territories is substantiated. It was revealed that the approach to the analysis and modeling of the city economy when considering it as a "quasi-corporation" involves the formation of an integrated reproduction system based on increasing the efficiency of the use of territory resources, which translates the process of planning the development of the urban environment into the category of business process technologies.

Образование задействовано в системе исторически сложившихся институтов общества, которые организуют социальные, экономические, политические, правовые, нравственные, этические и иные отношения. Статья посвящена анализу места и роли образования в системе общественного воспроизводства, а также определению роли системы образования в системе общественного воспроизводства. Актуальность исследования обусловлена проблемой недооценки системы образования как элемента воспроизводственного процесса, способного обеспечить социально-экономическое развитие страны. Научная новизна полученных результатов отражена в выявлении сущности и качества взаимосвязи образования и общественного воспроизводства, выделении соответствующего функционального поля. Education is involved in the system of historical institutions of society that organize social, economic, political, legal, moral, ethical and other relations. The article is devoted to the analysis of the place and role of education in the system of social reproduction, as well as to the definition of the role of the education system in the system of social reproduction. The relevance of the study is due to the problem of underestimating the education system as an element of a reproductive process that can ensure the socio-economic development of the country. The scientific novelty of the obtained results is reflected in the identification of the essence and quality of the relationship between education and social reproduction, the allocation of the corresponding functional field.
