Abstract This paper describes a microfluidic multicolor display utilizing juxtapositional color mixing of pixels. Our display has a 14 × 14 array of pixels (2.5 mm in pixel diameter, 8.46 ppi) on the display surface where multicolor is expressed by controlling the pattern of the four primary color inks (cyan (C), magenta (M), yellow (Y), and black (= key plate, K)) that fill the pixels. The microfluidic display has a three-layer structure composed of a top layer with pixels for displaying images, a middle layer that serves as a background screen, and a bottom layer with microchannels that connect the pixels. In order to express multicolor by combining CMYK primary colors, we optimized the concentration of the inks used as the primary colors. By designing patterns of pixels filled with CMYK ink, color gradations and multicolor images were displayed on our display. The proposed microfluidic display could be applied to eye-friendly and low-energy-consumption flexible display applications including multi-purpose sign boards used in outdoors, wearing objects, and exterior/interior of vehicles and architects.

Abstract Real-time color-tunable upconversion luminescence of lanthanide ions has recently attracted increasing attention. To date, at least two different excitation wavelengths are required to obtain tunable upconversion colors containing the three-primary-color components (Red-Green-Blue). In this work, for the first time, we demonstrate that it is possible achieving tunable three-primary-color upconversion luminescence using a single excitation wavelength, on the basis of the photon-order dependent uponversion nature. A core-shell-shell nanocrystal was synthesized, with rational designed compositions of Er/Yb and Tm/Yb in the core and the outermost shell, respectively, responsible for the green/red and blue emissions. By increasing the power density of the 980 nm continuous-wave excitation laser, the color of the emitted luminescence of the core-shell-shell nanocrystal evolved as green → red → blue, corresponding to 2 → 3 → 4-photons involved in the upconversion process.

The article discusses the properties of color in prose. Unlike a lyric work, prose comments on the use of color when expressing creative ideas. In the prose context, the static and dynamic manifestations of colors are given. The dynamic manifestation of colors in context is evidenced by examples of the repetition of the same color and the emergence of the primary color through its counterparts. It is also shown that the ratio of color to words and paragraphs in the context determines its importance in the expression of an artistic idea.

In order to quickly extract the visual navigation line of farmland robot, an extraction algorithm for dark primary agricultural machinery is proposed. The application of dark primary color principle in new farmland is made clearer by gray scale method, and the soil and crops are obviously separated, and the image processing technology of visual navigation line image of farmland is realized. In binary filtering of gray scale images, the maximum interclass variance method and morphological method are used respectively. The researchers use vertical projection method and least square method to the farmland interval extracted by navigation line. The farmland that needs the guide line image will be accurately located. It is found that the visual navigation extraction algorithm of farmland robot is widely used in the image extraction of navigation lines of various farmland roads and scenes compared with the traditional gray scale algorithm. Image processing has the advantages of clearer image processing.

: The human visual system is encompassed with three components that help to produce a color sensation. The color display devices use this concept and create their full range of colors by incorporating all three primary color components. Any displayable color can be created with the help of these primaries. This paper comprises the concept of color space, which helps to understand a particular device’s color proficiencies. Since colors are a more robust descriptor, color spaces are considered to play a significant role in representing an image appropriately. The performance of many algorithms depends on the selection of an appropriate color space. There are many kinds of color spaces that can be used in real-time applications. These are RGB, nRGB, HSV, TSL, YCbCr, YUV, YES, CIE-XYZ, CMYK, etc. In this paper, color spaces and their vast classification are described in brief. Apart from these, the characteristics, applicability, limitations, mathematical conversion, and other essential factors are also explained for each color space.

PurposeThe purpose of this article is to design and make fabrics with colorful melange yarns spun by a three-channel rotor spinning machine.Design/methodology/approachThe three-channel digital rotor-spun machine controls the blending proportion by adjusting the feeding of three-primary color fiber slivers online, so that a piece of colorful yarn presents a variety of colors along the longitudinal direction where constant yarn linear density can be produced flexibly. Various fabric patterns can be produced by three-channel rotor-spun colorful melange yarn with different periods of color.FindingsThe fabric, made by the rotor-spun colorful melange yarn, is rich in color, clear in layers, soft in the hand and has a hazy three-dimensional effect. The product is environmentally friendly and saves energy.Originality/valueAn innovative idea to develop various colorful fabrics is proposed by combining their pattern with colorful melange yarn produced by a three-channel rotor spinning machine.
