Styrene-butadiene-styrene tri-block copolymer (SBS) modified asphalts are usually unstable during high-temperature storage, which presents an obstacle to their application. In this paper, SBS modified asphalts with improved high-temperature storage stability were prepared by incorporating carbon black (CB) into the SBS compounds. The effect of CB on the high-temperature storage properties, dynamic rheology, mechanical properties (softening point, viscosity etc.) and the morphologies of the modified asphalts were studied. It was found that the ratio of SBS to CB in the compound had a great effect on the high-temperature storage behavior. The modified asphalts were stable when the ratio of SBS/CB was around 2. CB had almost no effect on the dynamic rheology or the mechanical properties of the modified asphalts. The improvement in high-temperature storage behavior could be caused by decreasing the density difference and improving the compatibility between SBS and asphalt.

Abstract Mathematical models to evaluate and predict the performance degradation of lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) with different status of charge (SOC) in long-term high-temperature storage which are also applicable for setting rational storage conditions (temperature, SOC, and time) of LIBs were established. Parameters including voltage drop (Delta V), reversible capacity (RC) loss, and internal impedance (IMP) increase of LIBs under different temperature (60, 45, and 25°C) are used to allow the model to clarify its function. According to the results obtained from commercial 18650 cylindrical batteries with LiNi0.33Co0.33Mn0.33O2 cathode, the mathematical relationship between Delta V and storage days (x) is fitted into a simple formula: Delta V =m.In(x)-n, and similarly, RC loss = m'.exp (n'.x) and IMP increase = m''.xn'' can also be acquired. In these formulas, m, n, m', n', m'' and n'' are constants when temperature and SOC are fixed. If only the temperature is fixed, the value of these constants can be derived into a function with SOC (y), respectively, while further plugging the function into the calculation formula of Delta V, RC loss, and IMP increase, respectively, allows the mathematical models to be set up.

Effect of gamma radiation (1.33 MeV) and high temperature storage of semiconductor package towards micromechanical properties has been investigated. The in-house fabricated Quad Flat No Lead was exposed to gamma radiation with the dose of 5 Gy. Afterwards, high temperature storage was performed at 150 °C for 10, 100 and 1000 hours. Subsequently, the three point bending technique was carried out to obtain the micromechanical properties of semiconductor package. The fracture of the packages caused by three point bending test was subjected to 3D CT scan to capture the image of the fracture. Irradiated package shows the decreasing in their strength with increasing doses of gamma radiation. However, the strength of the package was improved after high temperature storage for 10 hours and decreased as the storage period is extended. Further analysis exhibited that high temperature storage for 10 hours is reveal as good thermal treatment for package in radioactive environment application.
