In order to develop reliable methods for the synthesis of various 5-substituted-8-oxyquinoline derivatives for the preparation of Alq3-type complexes, we have improved the reaction conditions on some syntheses described in the literature, successfully synthesized new ligands based on quinolin-8-ol and characterized their chemical structures by NMR. Some of the synthesized quinolin-8-ol derivatives containing incorporated bulky triphenyl or tert-butyl groups showed blue luminescence in the solid state due to the possible aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIEE) with a maximum wavelength around 510 nm. More detailed light-emission property investigation of the mentioned bulky group containing compounds is currently underway.

Fluorescent molecules based on a fluorinated isoxazole scaffold were provided for the synthetic methods and their photochemical properties.  Simple 3,5-diarylisoxazoles led to increasing the fluorescent intensity and exhibited a redshift in the emission intensity by introducing a fluorine atom.  α-Fluorinated boron ketoiminates (F-BKIs) derived from a ring opening reaction of 4-fluoroisoxazoles were also synthesized and exhibited a highly fluorescent luminescence as a new aggregation-induced emission (AIE) fluorophore.

Here, we are reporting for the first time a simple naphthalimide derivative that undergoes assembly in the J-type manner in the solid, solution and gel state. It shows the aggregation-induced emission property and has been used for cell imaging.

We present here the simple procedure for synthesizing elongated fibers like porphyrin aggregates. Usually whenever the aggregation in dye molecules takes place the emission always tends to quench. In this work we explore and discuss the unusual enhanced emission property of these aggregates. The nanofibers of porphyrin were characterized with the help of atomic force microscopy and UV-vis spectroscopy whereas photoluminescence spectroscopy was used to check their emission property.

Three isomers, [4'-(bisphenylamino)[1,1']biphen-2-yl]methylenefluorene (BAB2MF), [4'-(bisphenylamino)[1,1']biphen-3-yl]methylenefluorene (BAB3MF) and [4'-(bisphenylamino)[1,1']biphen-4-yl]methylenefluorene (BAB4MF), were synthesized through Suzuki coupling. The substitution pattern exerts a dramatic influence on the optical property. BAB3MF and BAB4MF are hardly emissive either in the solution or as solid state. On the contrary, BAB2MF emits strongly, especially in the aggregate state with a high fluorescent quantum yield of 69%. Furthermore, BAB2MF shows an aggregation-induced enhanced emission behavior. BAB2MF solid emits at 488 nm, about 60 nm blue-shifted from its solution.
