When a component, as heat shields, degrade, two stages can be distinguished. First, a potential failure appears, which could evolve to the second stage and become a functional failure. The time between these two stages is called delay-time, which has been widely studied in literature to determine when to inspect to avoid breakdown. These studies have shown only single analysis criteria to find failure finding interval (FFI). In order to overcome this limitation, we developed a novel strategy to apply multicriteria methodology to optimize FFI. Our approach considers availability, system breakdown risk and reliability analysis from a systemic perspective, studying heat shields as groups, according to their location in the combustion chamber, regardless of age defect. Hence, it is not necessary to check every one of the shields. Our results show an optimal FFI policy subject to a determined breakdown risk level. This analysis may be adaptable to other components that can be grouped together.

Innovation capability has increasingly been searched by the ICT sector in cloud computing applications recently. This chapter describes the economic potentials of cloud computing and explores the characteristics of its usage among Hungarian enterprises. Although enterprises are aware of the basic concept of cloud computing, they have concerns about its application mainly due to data security issues and the lack of education. The chance of using cloud computing services is mainly facilitated by the creation of easier application and consultation would positively affect their usage. According to microenterprises and corporations, faster information flow and remote access are the key benefits of cloud usage. In the case of small-sized enterprises, the two main advantages are easier system recoverability and a higher level of mobility in case of a system breakdown. For the medium-sized enterprises, remote access and greater data security were the key benefits of using cloud computing services in 2014.

More traditional approaches to accident reporting and analysis have received much critisism in recent years. The dispute apparently lies in their inability to facilitate intervention development due to a primary non-ergonomic orientation as well as limited suitability as an information management system. Laughery, Petree, Schmidt, Schwartz, Walsh and Imig (1983) in an effort to address these issues adopted the human factors based scenario and analytic technique developed by Drury and Brill (1983) and devised a accident coding and analysis system. In an study of 1,694 operator cases taken over a three year period at a petrochemical facility in the Houston, TX area, five separate accident patterns accounting for 80% of all the reported cases were found. The scenarios are as follows: 1) muscular/skeletal strain in system operation. 2) chemical release due to system breakdown. 3) obstruction in the workspace. 4) unsolicited interface movement during system operation. 5) poor footing in the workspace. A closer analysis of each scenario revealed apparent design flaws and managerial policy problems, that if corrected would reduce incident numbers significantly.

ABSTRACT3D stacked (or uncorrelated) multilayer graphene (s-MLG) is investigated as a potential material platform for carbon-based on-chip interconnects. S-MLG samples are prepared by repeatedly transferring and stacking the large-area CVD-grown graphene monolayers, followed by wire patterning and oxygen plasma etching of graphene. We observed superior wire conduction of s-MLG over that of monolayer graphene or ABAB-stacked multilayer graphene. Further reduction of s-MLG resistivity is anticipated with increasing number of stacked layers. Electrical stress-induced doping technique is used to engineer the Dirac point, as well as to reduce graphene-to-metal contact resistance, improving the overall performance metrics of the s-MLG system. Breakdown experiments show that the current-carrying capacity of s-MLG is significantly enhanced as compared with that of monolayer graphene.

Consider a two-component parallel system. There is a stockpile of n spares, spare i having lifetime Xi, exponentially distributed with rate µi. The system breaks down when neither component functions. Every time a spare expires it has to be replaced, to avoid system breakdown. We investigate the policies which maximize the expected lifetime of the system using these n spares.

The relationship of law to antagonisms and contradictions within state socialism is explored from a Weberian and a Marxian perspective. Examining legislation, court decision making, legal control of economic behavior, and law enforcement reveals contradictions between (I) a radical participatory ideology versus muted or extinct civil society; (2) the ideology of comprehensive planning versus the impotence of law; (3) strategies aiming at total control of public life versus the emergence of a niche society outside the reach of the state; (4) regulatory norms versus the functional necessity of norm-breaking behavior; (5) reliance on a revolutionary sense of justice versus the cultivation of “doublethought”; (6) a program of total control of economic behavior versus the emergence of deviant, even criminal, forms of organization to fulfill functionally necessary but ideologically unapproved economic tasks; and finally, (7) two distinct practices of law, responsive or postliberal versus repressive. Yet, contradictions typically did not lead through conflict to subsequent reform during the state socialist era, as conflicts were repressed. When reforms were attempted, they furthered conflict and system breakdown.
