AbstractThis chapter examines the importance of multi-disciplinary team-working to the management of antimicrobial stewardship and behaviour change processes. MDT has played a major role in improving communication and reducing professional boundaries that had previously contributed to high levels of infection; extended use of, often inappropriate antibiotics and poor patient outcomes. The functioning of such teams facilitates the role of clinical pharmacy.

AbstractThis chapter discusses the Role of Microbiology Testing in Controlling Infection and Promoting Antimicrobial Stewardship. It details the role that culture and sensitivity testing has played in creating the ‘objective’ evidence base that facilitated and nurtured midwifery empowerment, task shifting and multi-disciplinary team working. The chapter presents findings of resistance patterns of isolates from women with suspected sepsis.

The Role of Rhetoric and Metaphors in Organisational Change  RESUMEN El presente artículo es una recopilación de literatura científica que demuestra la relevancia de comprender nuevas formas de construir el concepto de cambio organizacional a través del lenguaje, en especial a través de claves lingüísticas como la retórica y metáfora. Esta construcción ayuda a generar procesos de cambio organizacional que presenten una menor intensidad y carga emocional negativa para los individuos, así como una mejor comprensión del mismo cambio para los empleados. ABSTRACT This article is a compilation of scientific literature about the importance of understanding new approaches to the construction of the organisational change concept through language, especially through linguistic devices such as rhetorical and metaphorical ones. Childhood obesity is a public health problem with multiple effects on children’s life. Promoting Active School Travel (AST) could provide an inclusive opportunity for physical activity and shape healthy behaviours. Data for this cross-sectional study were drawn from questionnaires carried out in five primary schools located in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, in neighbourhoods chosen for their variability in IMD (index of multiple deprivation) and spatial structure of street networks (measured through space syntax measure of integration). A randomly selected and heterogenic sample of 145 pupils (aged 9–10) completed an open-ended questionnaire to state what they like and dislike about their journey to school. Thematic analysis identified four typologies (environmental context, emotions, social influences and trip factors) based on the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) and specific themes and sub-themes underlying children’s affective experiences of their journeys to school. This study is the first known to authors to attempt to adapt the Capability, Opportunity and Motivation Behaviour (COM-B) model into AST and children’s experiences and associated behavioural domains with design aspects. Such an insight into children’s attitudes could inform urban planners and designers about how to apply more effective behaviour change interventions, targeting an AST increase among children.

Second Wave

The second wave of COVID-19 emerged in the late fall months in the state of Massachusetts and inadvertently caused a rise in the number of cases requiring hospitalization. With a field hospital previously opened in central Massachusetts during the Spring of 2020, the governor decided to reimplement the field hospital. Although operations were effectively accomplished during the first wave, the reimplementation of the field hospital came with its new set of challenges for operating a satellite pharmacy. Experiences gathered include new pharmacy operation workflows, the clinical role of pharmacy services, introduction of remdesivir treatment, and pharmacy involvement in newly diagnosed diabetes patients requiring insulin teaching. Pharmacy services were successful in adapting to the rapidly growing number in patients with a total of over 600 patients served in a course of 2 months.
