This article lays out the framework for relational-performative aesthetics in human-robot interaction, comprising a theoretical lens and design approach for critical practice-based inquiries into embodied meaning-making in human-robot interaction. I explore the centrality of aesthetics as a practice of embodied meaning-making by drawing on my arts-led, performance-based approach to human-robot encounters, as well as other artistic practices. Understanding social agency and meaning as being enacted through the situated dynamics of the interaction, I bring into focus a process ofbodying-thinging;entangling and transforming subjects and objects in the encounter and rendering elastic boundaries in-between. Rather than serving to make the strange look more familiar, aesthetics here is about rendering the differences between humans and robots more relational. My notion of a relational-performative design approach—designing with bodying-thinging—proposes that we engage with human-robot encounters from the earliest stages of the robot design. This is where we begin to manifest boundaries that shape meaning-making and the potential for emergence, transformation, and connections arising from intra-bodily resonances (bodying-thinging). I argue that this relational-performative approach opens up new possibilities for how we design robots and how they socially participate in the encounter.

Robots generally excel at specific tasks in structured environments but lack the versatility and the adaptability required to interact with and locomote within the natural world. To increase versatility in robot design, we present robotic skins that can wrap around arbitrary soft bodies to induce the desired motions and deformations. Robotic skins integrate actuation and sensing into a single conformable material and may be leveraged to create a multitude of controllable soft robots with different functions or gaits to accommodate the demands of different environments. We show that attaching the same robotic skin to a soft body in different ways, or to different soft bodies, leads to distinct motions. Further, we show that combining multiple robotic skins enables complex motions and functions. We demonstrate the versatility of this soft robot design approach in a wide range of applications—including manipulation tasks, locomotion, and wearables—using the same two-dimensional (2D) robotic skins reconfigured on the surface of various 3D soft, inanimate objects.

The combined philosophy and design approach called Philosophy-through-Design (PtD) is proposed using an exemplary project about being-in-the-world in the digital age. PtD is a practical way to do philosophy through designing interventions, and involves various people in the exploration of philosophical concepts. It stems from the overlapping questions found in philosophy and design regarding human-technology interaction. By intertwining both, they benefit from describing, understanding and proposing human-technology interactions to unfold new questions and perspectives. In the exemplary project, being-in-the-world refers to a way of being that is embodied, active, open-ended and situational, based on the phenomenological and embodied theories of Tim Ingold. This concept questions what it means to be human in the digital age and how our lives with technology are built. The first results show the process of weaving together observation, creation and reflection, which presents Philosophy-through-Design as a promising method for designers to practice a tangible philosophy.

Business Placement Center membantu mengelola website alumni dalam memenuhi kebutuhan alumni salah satunya memberikan informasi mengenai lowongan pekerjaan. Website Alumni Amikom sudah memberikan informasi mengenai lowongan pekerjaan. Namun website alumni masih perlu ditambahkan fitur-fitur menu penunjang dalam mempermudah pencarian informasi pekerjaan yang sesuai keinginan pengguna. Penggunaan metode User Centered Design untuk mempermudah pengguna dalam menggunakan fasilitas yang ada pada website ketika mencari informasi lowongan pekerjaan dan pengguna berperan penting dalam setiap proses UCD. Dengan pendekatan User Centered Design diharapkan dapat menghasilkan tampilan dan fungsionalitas yang maksimal pada rancangan sistem yang dibangun sehingga sesuai dengan kebutuhan pengguna. Metode penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu observasi, wawancara dan kuesioner untuk mengetahui kebutuhan pengguna. Analisis dan perancangan menggunakan pendekatan User Centered Design dan implementasi perancangan sistem. Hasil penelitiannya adalah pengguna merasa nyaman dengan tampilan antarmuka website yang sudah dibangun, informasi yang disajikan mudah dipahami dan fitur-fitur menu sudah berhasil berjalansesuai fungsi.Business Placement Center help manage the website for the needs of alumnus one of them is to provide information on a vacancy. The alumnus website’s provides information about job vacancy. The website still need the support to facilitate the searching all the features the work in accordance with what the use. The method of user centered design to make it easy for users in the use of the existing facilities at the website while searching for information a vacancy and users play an important role in any proses UCD. User Centered Design approach is expected to produce the interface and functionality maximal built in the system so that in accordance with the need of users. Research methodology was by observation, interviews and quesionnaires to find out the need of users. Analysis and design using UCD approach and implementation of the system. The results of research is users feel comfortable with a display interface of website which have been built, the information is easily understood and menu features has been successfully run a function.
