In this work, we propose a fabric electrode with a special structure that can play the role of a noise reduction filter. Fabric electrodes made of the conductive fabric have been used for long-term ECG measurements because of their flexibility and non-invasiveness; however, due to the large impedance between the skin and the fabric electrodes, noise is easily introduced into the ECG signal. In contrast to conventional work, in which chip-type passive elements are glued to the electrode to reduce noise, the proposed electrode can obtain a noise-reduced ECG by changing the structure of fabric. Specifically, the proposed electrode was folded multiple times to form a capacitor with a capacitance of about 3 nF. It is combined with the skin-electrode impedance to form a low-pass filter. In the experiment, we made a prototype of the electrodes and measured ECG at rest and during EMG-induced exercise. As a result, the SNR values at rest and during exercise were improved about 12.02 and 10.29 , respectively, compared with the fabric electrode without special structure. In conclusion, we have shown that changing the fabric electrode structure effectively removes noise in ECG measurement.

This paper presents the Jacobian analysis of a parallel manipulator that has a fully decoupled 4-DOF remote center-of-motion for application in minimally invasive surgery. Owing to the special structure of the manipulator, the Jacobian matrix of the manipulator is expressed as a combination of three special Jacobian matrices, namely the Jacobian of motion space, Jacobian of constraints, and Jacobian of actuations. Based on these Jacobian matrices, the singular configurations of the manipulator are then identified. It shows that the configuration singularity only exists at the central point and the boundary of the reachable workspace of the manipulator.

Abstract In order to obtain high-quality microbial samples from the hadal zone, which has a depth of over 6,000 m, a full-ocean-depth sampler with the function of in-situ filtration and preservation was developed. A flow pump and several membrane filters were used for in-situ filtration under the sea. With a multistage filtering structure, the microbes can be initially screened according to their sizes. To avoid the degradation of microbial ribonucleic acid (RNA), a special structure was designed to inject the RNAlater solution into the samples immediately after the filtration. The sampler was tested in our laboratory and deployed during Mariana TS-15 in 2019. It was installed on a hadal lander of Shanghai Ocean University and deployed at MBR02 (11.371°N, 142.587°E, 10,931 m) in the Mariana Trench. A total of 20 L of in-situ seawater was filtered, and membranes with pore sizes of 3 and 0.2 μm were preserved. The study is expected to provide important support for the establishment of a hadal microbial gene pool.
