BIM is a method which is based on the integration of digitalization technology and visualization technology to manage information related project construction. This paper states the build process of imitating reality by using BIM’s visualization technology with multi-dimension and large data, and unique features for finding the potential problems and risks under virtual construction environment by BIM’s technology, so as to find problems in advance and evaluate them preliminarily, put forward corresponding countermeasures and prevent measures, work out optimized scheme to guide the real construction, and control effectively the project’s quality, progress and cost. BIM solves fundamentally the management defects from traditional project, and will certainly bring about a series of great changes in the circles of project management.

This paper aims to reviewed construction projects complexity in construction complex procurement. Construction complexity is influenced with many internal and external factors. Complexity covers entire construction project cycles. At construction work procurement stage, organization and processes complexity is a major concern, especially in government procurement. Complexity requires regulation and control are such that it does not happen obstacles at every project construction cycle stage.

Abstract It has been widely accepted in the academic community that the Critical Chain Method (CCM) has significant advantages over the Critical Path Method (CPM) in solving the problem with resource constraints. However, this paper conducted a study on comparing the two methods of Critical Chain Method and Critical Path Method, and found that the only difference between those two methods lies in how to determine the priority of resources allocating, and on the assumption of not setting buffer zone, those two methods have no essential distinctions at all. By establishing the relationship between CCM and CPM, this paper also enriched and improved CCM to some extent, and pointed out that the buffer zone setting in CCM is merely subjective and short of scientificity. In the meantime, for the problem of unclear representation of critical chains, it proposed two ways of representing critical chains and related rules to follow. To verify the conclusion of this paper, further detailed case study of comparing CCM and CPM was performed. Affected by various uncertain factors, the project construction sequence is random, the total construction duration is random, and the critical chain is also random, so it is unable to determine how to direct construction. Aiming at the randomness of the critical chain, this article analyzed various uncertain factors of the critical chain, and on the basis of solving the critical chain sequence time, it proposed the approach to determine the completion probability of the total construction duration and control the construction of the critical chain to direct the construction, in the meantime, the inverse algorithm was adopted to determine of the construction duration under the condition of required completion probability.

According to the water environment protection requirements for the Expressway Project of Qiandao Lake Area, this research combines on-site investigation with experimental detection and analysis to sort out the pollution generation link during the project construction in a systematic and comprehensive manner, analyze the source of construction sewage and wastewater, proposes special measures for sewage and wastewater treatment in the production at the precast mixing plant, bridge construction and tunnel construction. The research has achieved the goal of satisfactory sewage discharge and zero sewage discharge in the construction area, effectively ensured the safety of the water environment in the lake area during the project construction, and laid a solid foundation for Qianhuang Expressway to become a “Green Highway” demonstration project initiated by the Ministry of Transport. Food-safety problems constitute a new, urgent, and multifaceted challenge to Chinese people, society, and the state, involving a number of social, political, and ethical issues beyond those of food safety, nutrition, and health. In light of Ulrich Beck's theory of risk society, this article examines food-safety problems in contemporary Chinese society at the levels of food hygiene, unsafe food, and poisonous foods and argues that food-safety problems not only affect the lives of Chinese people in harmful ways but also pose a number of manufactured risks that are difficult to calculate and control. More importantly, food-safety problems in China have contributed to a rapid decline of social trust, thus posing a risk of distrust that has far-reaching social and political ramifications. In this sense, a risk society has already arrived in China but it comes with certain local characteristics and poses some new theoretical questions.

Method of network plan in project construction has been widely used, it complies with the requirements of the engineering construction management, organization and management is especially suitable for the construction of the project. At present our country network plan technology in engineering project theory and level with the foreign equivalent, but in the application of project management, especially the lag compared the supervision and control in implementing plan, tracking and adjustment, basically still stay on the preparation of the plan. This paper analyzes the present situation of the application of network technology in construction management, puts forward the ways and methods to improve the application of network planning technology.

The special topic of this paper is to build a nonlinear measuring model between PPP project risk and multiple variables and test it through case analysis. Nonlinear regression method was used in this research to study the risk mutation of public-private partnership (PPP) projects without any significant events. Risk evolution is influenced by three factors which include (1) macroscopic environment, (2) micro environment, and (3) subject’s capacity and their cooperative relationship. First, it reveals three main drive variables of project risk evolution through case analysis. Second, it builds a nonlinear time-varying measurement model which is then transformed to a classical regression model. Lastly, it estimates and tests the model parameter by an example. The study shows that there is an integral negative correlation among the three independent variables within a certain threshold range, revealing macro environment as the most significant factor of project risk. Analyzing the complex relationship between multiple impact variables and risk evolution of PPP projects can provide a basic tool for forecasting and control of risk.

In order to learn the relevant characteristics of soil erosion of highway slope in the permafrost region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, the different characteristics of the erosion area were analyzed in this paper firstly. Then based on ArcGIS and RUSLE modes and gray correlation analysis, the spatial and temporal differentiation characteristics of soil erosion in the area were proposed. The results showed that soil erosion was mainly concentrated in June to September, and the date of the project construction should be avoided as much as possible; The erosion intensity was slightly and mildly and gradually weakened from south to north. Theoretical research results will have important theoretical and technical significance for the prevention and control of soil erosion of highway slope in the permafrost area of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.

Large hydropower project involves numerous stakeholders in the construction phase. The risk of delayed payment may escalate into an event of catastrophic economic loss through complex stakeholders’ relationships. This paper builds a complex stakeholder network by collecting all contract prices in large hydropower project construction (LHPC) and proposes a novel mathematical model based on Cellular Automata Susceptible-Infected-Susceptible (CA-SIS) framework to analyze the risk propagation of delayed payment (RPDP). In the model, to approximate actual loss diffusion, risk-resisting and risk-mitigating abilities of stakeholders are combined, and relevance between risk mitigation and time is taken into account. The rationality and feasibility of the novel model are illustrated through its application to an actual LHPC. The simulation results include the following: RPDP presents three phases: risk first slightly propagates, risk then exponentially breaks out, and at last propagation consequence will reach a stable state related to stakeholders’ risk-resisting ability closely; in respect of stakeholders’ risk-mitigating ability and property of the network, RPDP range decreases with the increase of number of partners and homogeneity of contract price distribution; in respect of stakeholders’ risk-resisting ability, RPDP range decreases with the decrease of number of partners. This research can serve as a powerful complement to analyze and control the delayed payment in LHPC.
