Pay attention to the home living environment of low-and middle-income groups, study the user-centered design evaluation method to guide the design of home chairs suitable for low-and middle-income groups. Introducing Analytic Hierarchy Process(AHP)into home chairs’ design evaluation, it establishes a different layer and different elements structure model based on sensory experience, behavioral experience, emotional experience and economic experience from the point of user experience. Scoring each element, it calculates and determines the weight value of every element, and forms an evaluation method of home chairs for low-and middle-income Groups. Using the method to evaluate the design schemes of 3 home chairs, it obtains the optimal scheme. Then, surveying the market sales data to verify the accuracy of the result. The evaluation method consists of four major elements: sensory experience(B1), 27%; behavior experience(B2), 41%; emotional experience(B3), 10%; economic experience(B4), 22%. The method can effectively solve the complex comparison of multiple elements in design evaluation and provide a comprehensive method combining qualitative and quantitative methods for product design, and provides reference for products design and evaluation of the same type

Graphical user interface (GUI) is designed as the interaction medium between the user and the interface, and the perceptual experience of GUI design has been paid more and more attention by users. Based on the theory of perceptual engineering (KE), two groups of different visual style interfaces were taken as an example to record the EEG data when users watched two groups of visual interfaces, in order to explore the user’s perceptual imagery and perceptual experience for the visual interface. It aims to meet the user’s perceptual needs and provide an effective evaluation method and design basis for the graphical user interface design. Firstly, the EEG spectrogram and brain topographic maps were obtained by data analysis and processing. The results showed that the activity levels of the θ wave and α wave induced by the two groups of different visual style interfaces were significantly different. Secondly, this paper analyzed the user’s perceptual imagery with GUI perceptual design elements, and concluded that the perceptual design elements of GUI would affect the user’s cognitive interest and perceptual experience. GUI design should focus on the unity and coordination of perceptual design elements and perceptual imageries. Finally, it is concluded that the EEG-based perceptual design evaluation method can effectively evaluate the GUI visual interface.

This paper introduces an effective new Design For Quality tool called the Assembly Reliability Evaluation Method (AREM) that visualizes assembly fault potential. The distinctive features of AREM are: (1) visualization of parts and operations having a high fault probability; (2) evaluation of shop reliability, as well as product reliability and, (3) easy data input by symbol selection as well as simultaneous assemblability evaluation; can be evaluated quantitatively. The method can be integrated with other DFX tools such as the Assemblability Evaluation Method (AEM), and the Recyclability/Disassemblability Evaluation Method (REM/DEM) to realize a comprehensive production design evaluation system.

Green water is a significant problem for floating ship-type offshore structures, which needs to be assessed in the early design of the structure. First the present paper summarises a new semi-empirical design evaluation procedure that can assist in this design process. Then the practical design considerations related to the green water problem are discussed. There are different ways to solve the green water problem for a particular structure at a specific location: • Design the vessel and structures on the deck against the predicted green water impact load levels. • Optimise the bow shape (underwater shape and above water bow flare). • Increase the freeboard height such that green water is prevented completely. • Increase the freeboard height such that the green water loads are reduced to acceptable levels and design for these load levels. • Optimise the structures on the deck to minimise the green water impact loads. • Use protecting breakwaters in front of critical structures on the deck. All these options have their advantages and disadvantages. The semi-empirical design evaluation method and the different design options are discussed in a case study, focussing on a new DP FPSO concept.

For a more scientifically evaluate of home appliance product design, on basis of determining the evaluation index, Fuzzy AHP (Fuzzy-Analytic Hierarchy Process) comprehensive evaluation method is used to converse qualitative index to quantitative index, establish a home appliance product design evaluation model, overcome subjectivity and arbitrariness of evaluation, and scientifically realize the evaluation of home appliance product design. Research shows that the evaluation system can easily actualize the evaluation of home appliance product design conveniently and effectively.

In order to develop new design fatigue curves for austenitic stainless steels, carbon steels and low alloy steels and a new design fatigue evaluation method that is rational and has a clear design basis, the Design Fatigue Curve (DFC) subcommittee was established in the Atomic Energy Research Committee in the Japan Welding Engineering Society. Tentative design fatigue curves were developed and studies on the effects of mean stress and design factors are ongoing. Design fatigue curves, including the effects of mean stress and design factors, are needed to establish a new fatigue design evaluation method. This paper describes the study on the new fatigue design evaluation method.
