The development of business information systems has the communication gap that exists between business and software experts, because they live in their own well-defined and complex cultures. One place where this gap manifests itself is in the constant failure of software developers to fully capture the system requirements. Second example is the inability to exactly analyze and store business knowledge. In our experience, gathered during the last ten years, working on major software projects, not all system requirements are known at the start of the project and the customers expect that their discovery and refinement will form part of the project. Our solution of this dilemma is in the new methodology called BORM (Business and Object Relationship Modeling), which reuses the object-oriented approach known from the area of software engineering into the area of business process modeling. CraftCASE is the original Czech software tool supporting BORM. CraftCASE is developed to capture and analyze knowledge of process-based business systems. The integral part of the analysis using CraftCASE is object-oriented process diagram and process simulator.

Measures in the rivers, their potential to mitigate morphological alterations caused by overflow events of urban drainage structures and their cost-effectiveness have been investigated. The receiving water is seen as part of the urban wastewater system since integrated management of the system has to consider measures in the receiving water as an option for improvement of the system. In this study the measures were evaluated using the software tool REBEKA. It has been found that increase of combined sewer overflow storage volume is less cost-effective than the investigated in-stream measures. Bed paving with coarse material is an effective and cheap method to reduce erosion problems. Reduction of slope required the smallest relative changes but has to be transferred into applicable methods like ‘increase of meandering’. The effectiveness of the methods for reduction of slope as well as of the measure ‘channel widening’ strongly depends on the dimension of the erosion problem- their applicability is limited for huge impacts. Evaluation of measures in different sub systems of the wastewater system with simulation tools can reveal interesting alternatives. Measures in the receiving water can be cost-effective and enhance the ecological quality which is an important aspect in the implementation of the European Water Framework Directive

The method of earned value management is traditionally applied to the progress assessment of actual software projects in many IT companies. Also, Open Source Software (OSS) are used under the various situations because of cost reduction, standardization, and quick delivery. In particular, many OSS are developed and managed by using fault big data recorded on the bug tracking systems. Several research papers in terms of OSS reliability assessment have been published in the past. The fault is caused by the poor handling of effort control. Therefore, we can make a stable and safety operation for OSS system if the OSS project is appropriately managed by using the software effort. The OSS effort estimation model by using a conventional stochastic differential equation model is discussed in this paper. Then, we propose the optimal maintenance problem based on the earned value requirement. In particular, we develop the OSS project stability support tool. Furthermore, several performance illustrations of the developed software tool are shown by using the effort data under actual OSS project.

The paper deals with an isolated electric power system (EPS) based on hydroelectric power plants. The analysis of the existing methods and approaches for investigation of modes of EPS which comprise hydroelectric power plants is presented. A mathematical model of a hydroelectric station cascade has been developed, which allows taking into account the hydraulic connection during calculation of electrical modes. A software tool for optimization the operating modes of hydroelectric power plants as part of the power system was developed. It uses redistribution the load between hydraulic units both inside the station and between hydroelectric complexes of cascade hydroelectric stations. The task of modeling power consumption and load graphs of EPS with specific properties, based on the application of artificial intelligence methods, is considered.

Developed modern software tool for determining the quality of software (SW) techniques metric analysis. The software allows you to use quality metrics to calculate the corresponding metric and determine the value of the complex index of quality software product. Clarified the quality assessment process, software analyzes the concept of the quality of the software product as an object of standardization and quality levels of performance models of the software. This allowed the opportunity to improve the quality of software by generating the relevant requirements of the criteria for quality evaluation. It is also possible to make the improvement of the metric analysis of models of its quality and its quantitative measurement methods in all phases of a software project. It was revealed that the driving force behind the success of software projects is the desire of their leaders to develop such software, which would have a certain value. It should be important for certain tasks or to achieve tactical and strategic objectives. The value of the software can be expressed in the form of its value, or in some other form. The customer usually has their own idea of the maximum cost of investing in the development of software. These funds profit it expects to achieve in the case of the main goals of using the software. It can also have a vision of the functionality of software and certain expectations of its quality. The features of the use of the metric analysis for determining the quality of the software, revealed the lack of uniform standards for the metric. Therefore, each supplier of its measurement system offers its own methods of evaluating the quality of software and associated metrics. Also it is challenging the interpretation of metric values, since for the majority of users of its software metrics and their values are not absolutely clear and informative. It was found that the main parameters of the choice of an embodiment of the software is its cost, the duration of the development process and the reputation of the designer of the company. But the decisions taken on the basis of these parameters, not always guarantee proper quality of the software.
