In this paper, we provide a holistic survey of multimedia content protection applications in which blockchain technology is being used. A taxonomy is developed to classify these applications with reference to the technical aspects of blockchain technology, content protection techniques, namely, encryption, digital rights management, digital watermarking and fingerprinting (or transaction tracking), and performance criteria. The study of the literature reveals that there is currently no complete and systematic taxonomy dedicated to blockchain-based copyright protection applications. Moreover, the number of successfully developed blockchain-based content protection systems is very low. This points towards a research gap. To fill this gap, we propose a taxonomy that integrates technical aspects and application knowledge and can guide the researchers towards the development of blockchain-based multimedia copyright protection systems. Furthermore, the paper discusses some technical challenges and outlines future research directions.

Nowadays, the use of digital content or digital media is increasing day by day. Therefore, there is a need to protect the digital document from both unauthorized users and authorized users. The digital document should be protected from authorized users who try to redistribute it illegally. Digital watermarking techniques along with cryptography are insufficient to ensure an adequate level of security of digital media. The security of the transferring digital data in the modern world is also a big challenge because there is a high risk of security breaches. In this article, a secure technique of image fusion using hybrid domains (spatial and frequency) for privacy preserving and copyright protection is proposed. The proposed method provides a secure technique for the digital content in cloud environment. Two cloud services are used to develop this work, which eliminates the role of a trusted third party (TTP). First is the design of an infrastructure as a service (IaaS) to store different images with encryption processes to speed up the image fusion process and save storage space. Second, a Platform as a Service (PaaS) is used to enable the digital content to improve computation power and to increase the bandwidth. The prime objective of the proposed scheme is to transfer the digital media between a service provider and customer in a secure way using a hybrid domain along with cloud storage. Imperceptibility and robustness measures are used to calculate the performance of the proposed approach.

While digital content is key to the Australian Telecommunications and Media industry, there is little industry cooperation to improve the content lifecycle across industry segments including production, distribution and advertising.  With the emergence of hyperledger, an open source blockchain technology for shared ledger, there is opportunity for the industry to collaborate to improve content lifecycle transparency, trust and efficiency while protecting consumer privacy.  Individual business networks and supply chains within the industry can tactically deploy hyperledger as a shadow ledger as a starting point, and widespread, consistent industry adoption is more readily achieved through government regulatory guidelines and a wholesale digital content infrastructure provider taking a leading role.

With the recent development in network technology over a few years, digital works can be easily published online. One of the main issues in the field of digital technology is the infringement of digital works, which can seriously damage the data owners’ rights and affects the enthusiasm of the owners to create original work. Thus, more attention is required for the protection of digital copyright as it has a great impact on the development of society. Many digital copyright protection techniques were developed in the past, but still, there are many loopholes in the protection systems to be covered. The protection means are still relatively weak, timeliness is poor, infringement is frequent, a right determination is cumbersome, and the results are not ideal. Aiming at the mentioned problems, this paper proposes a protection technique, which can realize the automatic management of the complete digital rights life cycle on the blockchain using fabric's smart contract technology. The proposed system is based on blockchain technology, which leverages the distributed, tamper-proof and traceable characteristics of blockchain. The system uses smart contracts to manage the full life cycle of digital copyright. The test results show that the proposed system provides effective protection of the digital copyright system and can efficiently confirm the rights of digital copyright.

Protecting copyright of a digital content is gaining momentum and has been suitably complemented by technological innovations. Literature piracy, though not being given much attention, constitutes a major bulk. Unlike audio and video, text piracy is not complemented by IT solutions except for certain proprietary initiatives. This pursuit embarks on review of technological advancements for Text Copyright Protection along with issues and challenges for their implementation. Appraisal comprises of watermark embedding algorithms and distribution infrastructure. A brief discussion over the document structure, watermark composition and type, classification of algorithms and future direction is also being accomplished. To make approach holistic couple of systems were also studied.
