This paper explores the factors which influenced the making and unmaking of this controversial and internationally unique temporary visa program. Through a review of literature, public documents, and media records I deconstruct this policy; analyze its rationalities, assumptions and mechanisms; and conclude with a discussion on the implications for foreign-born exotic dancers whose lives are marked by Canadian politics turmoil. I argue that the government's decision to discontinue the program has negatively impacted the human rights and quality of life of foreign-born exotic dancers who, quite possibly, made the dangerous transition to the existing group of undocumented workers in Canada. While the Exotic Dancer Visa Program was problematic in many ways these migrant women were protected by legal status, thus decreasing, but not eliminating, their vulnerability as women, as immigrants, and as workers.

The purpose of this study is to look at the effect of critical thinking and creative thinking on family welfare through intervening variables of quality of life in women workers in Surabaya. The concept of a research framework is built on understanding existing theories about critical thinking, creative thinking and reconstruction of family welfare through the quality of family life. This study consisted of 305 samples of female workers in Surabaya who had school-age children. Data obtained from questionnaires distributed to respondents. Using Structural Equation Modeling statistical modeling techniques, with Stata 14 Software. Critical thinking and creative thinking are needed for women workers to be able to do time, mind and energy management for office work and household chores so that a better quality of life will ultimately lead to family welfare. From this study the results were obtained the first model Y = 0.51 X1 + 0.47 X2, which means that exogenous variables consisting of critical thinking (X1) and creative thinking have a positive and significant effect on intervening endogenous variables, namely quality of life (Y) The Second Model Z = 0.93 Y which means the quality of life variable (Y) has a positive and significant effect on the dependent variable namely family welfare (Z). All latent variable indicators have a positive and significant effect with z values> 1.96. This research illustrates the importance of critical thinking and creative thinking for women workers in fighting for the quality of family life in order to achieve a prosperous family. This cannot be formed quickly, it takes time to continue to enrich themselves with new knowledge and insights.

Women workers today play an essential and significant role in the economic structure of the country and 94% of women make up the unorganized sector of India. Domestic Violence affects women’s productivity in all forms of life i.e. assaulted women will always get agonized and emotionally disturbed and are often bruised after occurrence of the torment. A working woman may lose her efficiency in work or drop out from work in some cases. The present study aims to explore the magnitude of sexual abuse by intimate partners and the quality of life of women aged 18 -35 years in 4 districts of West Bengal. Close ended questionnaire and focused group discussions were conducted to understand their experiences regarding perception of sexual abuse. The contributing factors to violence were alcohol abuse, desire to gain control over another family member and unjustified suspicion. This analysis might be used to improve future partner violence prevention and treatment programs.
