The article is a selective presentation of problems related to family diagnosis in the context of the role of a family assistant as a diagnostician. The main task of a family assistant is to support the family in the implementation of the care and educational function and to help improve the quality of family life. This is possible if the needs of the family in this area are recognized. The author selectively describes the professional role of a family assistant and shows its unique importance in the implementation of the diagnostic function. She indicates the most important factors which describe the functionality of the family, replacing the notion of health and pathology of the family with the criteria for its proper functioning. The author also attempts to catalogue the most important diagnostic criteria for the assessment of family functioning and also selectively indicates the basic principles of diagnostic procedure. She constructs a family diagnosis model, taking into account basic diagnostic competences and points out the need to include them in the process of professionalization of the family assistant’s profession.

Since its launch in 2016, the Family Planning Village (Kampung KB) has experienced interesting dynamics in the field. The number of KB Kampung is increasing every year. One of the goals of the KB Village is to improve the family quality of life. Quality of life consist of the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, spiritual, and environmental dimensions. This literature review research explores two questions: (1) how is the implementation of KB Kampung in the field; (2) What are the implications of Kampung KB for the quality of family life. By using Crossref and Google Scholar, 97 writings on the theme of Kampung KB were obtained. After the exclusion, there were 33 papers that were relevant to the purpose of this study, only 23 papers were obtained which were used as exploration material. The results of the analysis show several things. First, Kampung KB has been implemented with various obstacles and opportunities. Some that are often encountered are: lack of understanding of the managers, lack of budget support, and low continuity of activities. Second, although the community has felt the benefits, the programs and activities have not had too many implications for the family quality of life.

Quality of family life is one of the most important factors in the prevention of psychological disorders in children and adolescents. The present study describes and evaluates a pilot intervention, targeting a group of parents of elementary school-aged children. The intervention focused on primary prevention of disorders through promoting mental health and strengthening protective factors for positive family functioning. Sessions took place at the Community Mental Health Center of UMHRI and lasted one school year. The group, which consisted of seven mothers, was conducted bimonthly, and was facilitated by two psychologists. The topics of the 13 sessions were predetermined and were chosen based on the needs of the participating mothers and on the developmental stage of their children. The intervention was evaluated through a mixed methodology approach; quantitatively through the administration of a satisfaction questionnaire at the end of the program, and qualitatively through semi-structured observations conducted during the course of the intervention. The results signify the importance of supporting parents in their role. All mothers reported being very satisfied from the group and feeling more able to respond to the demands of their parental role as well as to the needs of their children.Additionally, the group process signified certain themes that are important to parents, such as the influence of the school and its teachers on their children’s lives. The encouraging results of this pilot study lead to the wider implementation of similar such interventions in the community.

Background: In recent years, there has been a growing international interest in family quality of life The objective of this systematic review is to understand and analyze the conceptualization of the quality of life of families with children with disabilities between 0 and 6 years of age, the instruments for their measurement and the most relevant research results. Method: A bibliographic search was conducted in the Web of Science, Scopus and Eric databases of studies published in English and Spanish from 2000 to July 2019 focused on “family quality of life” or “quality of family life” in the disability field. A total of 63 studies were selected from a total of 1119 and analyzed for their theoretical and applied contributions to the field of early care. Results: The functional conceptualization of family quality of life predominates in this area, and a nascent and enriching holistic conceptualization is appreciated. There are three instruments that measure family quality of life in early care, although none of them is based on unified theory of FQoL; none of them focus exclusively on the age range 0–6 nor do they cover all disabilities. Conclusions: The need to deepen the dynamic interaction of family relationships and to understand the ethical requirement that the methods used to approach family quality of life respect the holistic nature of the research is noted.

AbstractSeveral studies have found a variety of factors as antecedents of deviant behaviour but the role of family life on workplace deviant behaviour, as well as the mediating role of perceived competence in the quality of family life-deviant behaviour relationship, have received little study. This study examines the mediating effect of perceived competence on the relationship between the quality of family life and work-deviant behaviour. The study adopted the wellness model and self-determination theory as theoretical standpoints. Three hundred and eight-four (384) university staff in Nigeria participated in the study. Results revealed that there was a significant negative relationship between the quality of family life and workplace deviant behaviour. The result of the hierarchical multiple regression also revealed that perceived competence mediates the link between the quality of family life and workplace deviant behaviour. These findings suggest that psychologists should design training programmes aimed at improving the sense of competence and quality of family life, which invariably will reduce workplace deviant behaviour.
