The effect of ageing on the dissipative properties of getinacks subjected to repeated static loading has been investigated. Specimens were tested at the age of 1, 4, and 8 years. The approximation of experimental data is done, and the energy of dissipation is calculated. Based on the investigation of getinacks manufactured by the technology of regulated thermo-pressing, this technology can be recommended for the manufacturing of appropriate products.The results of experimental investigation of the effect of temperature field on the dissipative properties of layered getinacks widely applicable in electrical manufacturing, electronics and microelectronics are considered in this paper. The approximation of the experimentally obtained dependences between σ and ε for the loading (→) and unloading (←) parts of the hysteresis loop are calculated and plotted. The factor of energy dissipation is defined. Estimated that the temperature field affects the dissipative properties of the layered getinacks and that effect is depending on the value of applied load cyclically acting on the material.

This paper describes the failure modes and energy absorption capability of partially wrapped aluminium-glass/epoxy tubes, subjected to quasi-static loading. ‎These tubes are used in aircraft and automobiles applications. Aluminium tubes were partially wrapped with 4, 6 and 8 glass/epoxy layers, using filament winding process. The 90◦ fiber orientation was used for glass/epoxy layers. Quasi-static loading of partially wrapped tubes was carried out at 5mm/min speed, using the universal ‎testing machine. The experimental results revealed that partially wrapped aluminium tubes are 42.54%, 47.77% and 28.91% more ‎efficient in energy absorption as compared to the simple aluminium tubes. Furthermore, the effect of glass/epoxy layers on ‎failure modes has also been described.

Thin plates, which are widely used in ship structures, undergo weld-induced buckling distortions because of their lower critical buckling strength. Thus, there is a need for an active in-process distortion control mechanism in the welding involving thin plates. In this regard, a ThermoMechanical Tensioning (TMT) method was developed and implemented successfully. In the current work, experimental investigation of the effect of TMT pull on the resulting welding distortions is studied and also the TMT process is compared with a heat sinking technique. The experimental results indicate that an increase in the TMT pull would reduce the extent of weld-induced buckling distortions. The results also suggest that a complicated heat sinking technique can be effectively replaced by a TMT process in reducing the welding out-of-plane distortions. The concept of TMT is further extended to the fabrication of grillage structures used in ship structures, which includes longitudinal and transverse welds.

Woven composites have been increasingly employed in engineering applications. For effective use of woven composites in engineering applications, it is essential to fully understand the mechanical behavior. In the present study, both tensile and compressive behavior of a carbon/glass hybrid woven composite manufactured by vacuum infusion process was experimentally investigated under in-plane quasi-static loading. The experiments were performed at both the axial and off-axial directions. The results indicated that the in-plane mechanical performance of the studied composite was highly directional dependent and tension/compression asymmetric.

The behavior of beam-column semi-rigid connection plays an important role in the response of a steel moment resisting, stiffness and rotation capacity framed structure, especially under static loading conditions. In this study, the moment-rotation characteristics of semi-rigid bolted connections using web cleat connections with IPE standard profile is discussed, based on the experimental investigation. The study revealed that the moment resistance of beam-column semi-rigid connection is improved by increasing the height of the beam to the height of web cleat joint (H), and the increasing thickness of web and flange in web cleat joints. The aim was to provide necessary data to improve the Eurocode 3 and efficiently use residue IPE standard profiles, rather than send them back to the consumption cycle. While the resistance moment increased with an increase in H from Hmin to Hmax.
