Abstract Since the 1980s, research and qualification activities are being carried out at the 60Co gamma Calliope plant, a pool-type irradiation facility located at the Research Centre ENEA-Casaccia (Rome, Italy). The Calliope facility is deeply involved in radiation processing research and on the evaluation and characterization of the effects induced by gamma radiation on materials for different applications (crystals, glasses, optical fibres, polymers and biological systems) and on devices to be used in hostile radiation environment such as nuclear plants, aerospace and high energy physics experiments. All the activities are carried out in the framework of international projects and collaboration with industries and research institutions. In the present work, particular attention will be paid to the cultural heritage activities performed at the Calliope facility, focused on two different aspects: (a) conservation and preservation by bio-deteriogen eradication in archived materials, and (b) consolidation and protection by degraded wooden and stone porous artefacts consolidation.

The existing wired monitoring systems for coal mine main-fan has some shortcomings such as complex working environment, bad flexibility and low reliability and so on. This paper developed a main-fan automatic monitoring system based on wireless sensor network with ZigBee technology, including monitoring host, sensor node, coordinator node and several data acquisition sensor. In order to meet requirements of coal mine environment monitoring signals, CC2430 is chosen as master control chip. The system achieved functions of automatic monitoring of coal mine main-fan supported by ZigBee technology, which is stable, low power consumption, and has practical value and bright development prospect.

Marine surveying is an important part of marine environment monitoring systems. In order to improve the accuracy of marine surveying and reduce investment in artificial stations, it is necessary to use high-precision GNSS for shipborne navigation measurements. The basic measurement is based on the survey lines that are already planned by surveyors. In response to the needs of survey vessels sailing to the survey line, a method framework for the shortest route planning is proposed. Then an intelligent navigation system for survey vessels is established, which can be applied to online navigation of survey vessels. The essence of the framework is that the vessel can travel along the shortest route to the designated survey line under the limitation of its own minimum turning radius. Comparison and analysis of experiments show that the framework achieves better optimization. The experimental results show that our proposed method can enable the vessel to sail along a shorter path and reach the starting point of the survey line at the specified angle.

In this paper is discussed the different kinds of environment monitoring systems related to water goodness. Different parameters are discussed to elaborate each water monitoring system with different aspects. The technology aspects of different approach techniques related to water quality monitoring with their way of implementation with the IOT aspect has been evaluated of past four years. In this paper, the workflow of different approaches of the technologies exploited will be discussed critically and also that which approaches focused on what parameters.
