The purpose of the surface treatment of wood products is not only to protect them, but also to make them attractive in relation to the visual aspect through their colour modification. It is therefore important that manufacturers of wood and furniture products pay particular attention to the supply of colour tones of wood. According to colours, wood is divided into groups: red woods (oak, cherry, pine, alder, etc.), brown woods (elm, ash, walnut, etc.), pale woods (hornbeam, spruce, fir, etc.) and green woods (acacia, etc.). The main objective of this paper is to identify the supply of colour tones of wood and furniture products of Slovak micro, small and medium-sized enterprises. An empirical survey was used to map the researched issue in the form of a questionnaire. The results show that Slovak micro, small and medium-sized woodworking and furniture enterprises prefer the quality of wood raw material to its price. At the same time, they mostly manufacture products made of solid wood. Where it is necessary to modify the colour of the wood, enterprises use a process of staining, which enhances the natural colour and grain of the wood. On the other hand, due to the lack of investment capital, they cannot use hydrothermal treatment of wood steaming, which is considered a modern way of modifying the colour tone of the wood. It is essential that Slovak micro, small and medium-sized woodworking and furniture enterprises constantly adapt their production supply in the changing market environment, where they must respond immediately to current trends. In this way, they can sustain and increase their turnover, which will help them overcome the current crisis.

In order to study the effect of microarc oxidation modification treatment on the friction properties of titanium alloy surface, the surface treatment layer of Ti-6Al-4V ELI specimen modified by Microarc oxidation surface was sampled, the surface layer hardness, roughness and treatment layer thickness were tested, the microscopic morphology was analyzed, The friction tests of TC4 substrate and micro-arc oxidation treatment surface disc with 25% glass fiber, 15% fiberglass +5% graphite and 60% tin bronze reinforced PTFE pin were carried out, and the results showed that the thickness increased slightly and the surface layer hardness increased by about 75% after the micro-arc oxidation surface modification treatment. Compared with the substrate, the surface roughness is obviously improved, and the friction coefficient of the surface treatment specimen is similar to that of the TC4 titanium alloy substrate, but the wear amount is higher than that of the TC4 titanium alloy substrate.

During the last decades, researchers have been growing the interest in surface treatment with an antimicrobial agent. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely used in biomedical fields due to their potent antimicrobial activity. So, in this study was investigated silver particles (isles) coated on titanium surface for dental and orthopedic application. Silver particles coating process on titanium surface were performed via sputtering that is a plasma-assisted deposition technique with and titanium without treatment was applied as comparing standard. Plasma treatment parameters were optimized so that the result was not a thin film of Ag but dispersed particles of Ag on the Ti-cp surface. The alloy surfaces were investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). In order to investigate antibacterial potential Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli have been used at Agar diffusion assay. The results were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) in order to verify significant difference antimicrobial activity between samples that have shown no difference between the surfaces studied treatments. For silver deposition scattered particles (isles) over titanium surface for a 10-minute treatment, EDS revealed by silver clusters that the particles were not properly scattered onto surface, hence, the low effectiveness in antibacterial activity.
