Monodispersed Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles were successfully synthesized via a simple solvothermal method, in which Fe(NO3)3•9H2O was used as the starting materials, KOH as the mineralizer, and ethylene glycol (en) as the solvent. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and selected area electron diffraction (SAED) were employed to characterize the phase composition, transmission electron microscope (TEM) to observe the morphology and the particle size, and physical property measurement system (PPMS) to investigate the magnetic property of the synthesized powders, respectively. The synthesized Fe3O4 magnetite nanoparticles are of 50-100nm in size, and of notable ferromagnetic property. The saturation magnetization, remanent magnetization, and coercive field are 68.8emu•g-1, 12.9emu•g-1, 138.5Oe, respectively. Based on the experimental resuts, the formation mechanism and the well monodispersed reason of the solvothersized Fe3O4 nanoparticles are discussed.

In this paper, three-dimensional (3D) Co 3 O 4 flower-like microspheres have been successfully synthesized via a facile ethylene glycol (EG)-mediated solvothermal method followed by calcination. The as-prepared flower-like precursors microspheres are formed from the assembly of 2D nanosheets in the presence of hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB). The flower-like architectures of the prepared precursors could be tailored by changing the amount of CTAB. Furthermore, when evaluated as a gas sensor, the obtained Co 3 O 4 flower-like microspheres exhibit a good response and sensitivity toward ethanol gas, suggesting their promising potential for gas sensors application.

A novel photocatalyst powder, BiOI/BiOBr/MoS2, was synthesized by a simple solvothermal method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), specific surface area and pore size analyses, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and X-ray energy spectrometry (EDS) were utilized to characterize the prepared samples. After evaluating the photocatalytic performance of the catalyst, it was loaded on the glass fiber and carbon fiber by polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and N-methylpyrrolidone, respectively. The photocatalytic activity of the composite was investigated by the degradation of ammonia nitrogen wastewater. The fiber cloth solved the problem of separation of powder from solution after reaction, and the presence of the binder reduces the agglomeration of the nanoparticles in the water. After four times repeated experiments, the degradation of simulate ammonia nitrogen wastewater by loaded glass fiber and loaded carbon fiber are 74.1% and 60.58%. Fixation of BiOI/BiOBr/MoS2 powders on fiber cloth solve the problem of difficult recovery of powder photocatalytic materials and it can be recycled, which has economic valuable.

Abstract In this paper, NiAlCe hydrotalcite was prepared by co-precipitation method and hydrothermal method in different volume fractions of ethylene glycol-water mixed solvent and polyethylene glycol-water mixed solvent, and the effect of photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange under ultraviolet light was studied. Samples were characterized by XRD, XPS, UV-Vis and FT-IR in order to find the reasons for the improvement of photocatalytic performance under co-solvent system. NiAlCe-10%EG(h) and NiAlCe-15%PEG(h) had smaller particle size, which was beneficial to photocatalytic performance. The degradation rate of methyl orange could reach up to 100% in 42 min using NiAlCe hydrotalcite with 10% volume fraction of EG and in 48 min using NiAlCe hydrotalcite with 15% volume fraction of PEG. The photocatalytic effect of NiAlCe hydrotalcite samples prepared by hydrothermal method were better than that prepared by co-precipitation method. This provided a new type of catalyst for the degradation of dyes: preparing with ethylene glycol-water mixed solvent.

3D structured rGO/TiO2 composite was synthesized by a simple solvothermal reaction using poly(l-lysine) (PLL) and ethylene glycol (EG) as coupling agents. The composite shows enhanced photocatalytic degradation of MB compared to simply a mixture of TiO2 and GO, TiO2, and commercial P25.
