A conformal field theory on the boundary of three-dimensional asymptotic anti-de Sitter spaces which appear as near horizon geometry of D-brane bound states is discussed. It is shown that partition functions of gravitational instantons appear as high and low temperature limits of the partition function of the conformal field theory. The result reproduces phase transition between the anti-de Sitter space and the BTZ black hole in the bulk gravity.

We report on a high precision Monte Carlo test of the three-dimensional Ising gauge model at finite temperature. The string tension σ is extracted from the expectation values of correlations of Polyakov lines. Agreement with the string tension extracted from Wilson loops is found only if the quantum fluctuations of the flux tube are properly taken into account. The central charge of the underlying conformal field theory is c = 1.

Three-dimensional Chern-Simons gauge theories are quantized in a functional coherent state formalism. The connection with two-dimensional conformal field theory is found to emerge naturally. The normalized wave functionals are identified as generating functionals for the chiral blocks of two-dimensional current algebra.

In this paper we discuss a possible holographic dual of the two-dimensional conformal field theory associated with the world-sheet of a macroscopic superstring in a compactification on a four-torus. We assume that the near-horizon geometry of the black string has symmetries of AdS 3×S3×T4 and construct a sigma model in the bulk. Analyzing the symmetries of the bulk theory and comparing them with those of the CFT in a special light-cone gauge, we find agreement between global symmetries. Due to nonstandard gauge realization it is not clear how affine symmetries can be realized.

Abstract We compute spinning four point functions in the quasi-fermionic three dimensional conformal field theory with slightly broken higher spin symmetry at finite t’Hooft coupling. More concretely, we obtain a formula for $$ \left\langle {j}_s{j}_{\tilde{0}}{j}_{\tilde{0}}{j}_{\tilde{0}}\right\rangle $$ j s j 0 ˜ j 0 ˜ j 0 ˜ , where js is a higher spin current and $$ {j}_{\tilde{0}} $$ j 0 ˜ is the scalar single trace operator. Our procedure consists in writing a plausible ansatz in Mellin space and using crossing, pseudo-conservation and Regge boundedness to fix all undetermined coefficients. Our method can potentially be generalised to compute all spinning four point functions in these theories.
